I can’t attach photos for some reason anymore – so many issues with this website. But my ring is 5 mm at the bottom and tapers to around 2mm where it meets the stones. Because of the side stones and the basket on the center stone it’s back to about 4mm wide directly under the center stone. I’m attaching a link to the ring so you can see what I mean.

I’m going with a more narrow wedding band (if I get one – I still haven’t decided if I want one) but I’m pretty sure I could comfortably wear a 2-3mm wedding band with my ~5mm engagement ring. For reference I have a size 4.75 finger and my hands are pretty stubby.

lilredcat :  my ring size is 4.5, my wedding band is 2.5mm, my e-ring is a split shank, and the garnet ring in the second picture is 3mm.

lilredcat :  My ring size is also 4.5, and the wedding band I’ve chosen is 3mm. My fingers are on the longer side, though. Even so, I hope this picture can give you a better idea of what 3mm will look like! I don’t think it’s too thick—it really just depends on finger length and size, plus the style and size of your engagement ring.

lilredcat :  heck no!  My ering at it’s largest is 10mm! and my band is 2mm, so it’s taking up 12mm of my hand and I still have room.

I don’t think it’s too thick but it also depends on if you plan on adding other bands later such as an anniversary band.

I think it is but it’s a personal opinion! Mine is 2.8mm with a solitaire and I wish it was thinner because that is the look I prefer. It is still beautiful and the thickness makes it really durable but I want a more dainty band! Is there s specific ring you found that has a 3mm band and you want it? Or just looking for general advice about band specs ?

lilredcat :  I have a 4.5 finger as well (sized up to a 4.75 for the actual rings), and I think 3mm is fine, and I too have small hands. Both my e-ring and wedding band are 3mm, so with both bands on, the width is 6mm, but even if I wear just one ring, I like that the width of either ring is substantial enough for that ring to stand on its own.

Personally, I thought 3mm was too much for me. 2mm is perfect and my band is 2 mm so all tiogether 4mm is doable for me, but I felt like my finger was drownging in 6mm. I say, go try on some rings and sets at a jeweler just to see how they look on your hand. You may like it!

My ring size is 5.5, but I have three bands at 2.5mm, 2.3mm and 2.5mm… so a whopping 7.3mm thick! I love it so much and I love the finger coverage.
