@SnaggedAgoodOne:  Unfortunatly I think that lately on the Bee people have taken to skimming posts and not thinking about them deeply before replying. This leads to a lot of snap judgements which are totally incorrect. It also seems that once one Bee has made that judgement, others follow suit.

I’m really sorry that your post was so misunderstood by others. *hugs*

I don’t know but why would you assume he wasn’t telling the truth?

That’s what I want to know! Even if it wasn’t custom made, he picked it out, just for you. It is beautiful! If you want to show it off, just show it off and bees will ooh and ah over it. There’s not even any need for a backstory.

Men have a pride about their love’s rings and jewelry. We picked out my ring together but my Fiance is proud as a peacock that he bought it “just for me” lol. I just give him the credit because jewelry is something extremely intimidating to him. His mother is always pushing him to give me jewelry for gifts but he refuses because he just doesn’t know.

OP, I think part of the reason why you got some of the responses that you did is because of the title of your post:

“Do you think he really had it custom made?”

IMO, the title itself gives a sense of negativity from the get go.  It immediately comes across as you don’t trust that he did have it custom made.

I don’t think it’s something to question him about because if you do then it really does come across like you don’t believe him.  I think guys (and many ladies too!) confuse “custom” with “semi custom”.  True custom is obviously when you sit with a jeweler and coming up with a design from scratch.  Semi custom is taking an existing setting and tweeking it.  One is not better than the other.

From the looks, it does look like it’s a custom design as I had been looking at halo settings for several months and never came across one like it.  I’ve seen similar but the diamonds were smaller, which leads me to believe yours truly is custom.

Whether it is or not, just enjoy your ring and if your guy wants to walk around telling people it’s custom, just smile and nod your head.

Custom made doesn’t always mean “made just for you,” nor does custom made mean “not idental to a million other rings out there.”  It’s a moot point, though, because if you love it, it really shouldn’t matter if he designed it from the get-go, lucked into finding the exact thing you wanted already done up at a jeweler, or anywhere in between. Sometimes we just need to accept things as they are without over-analyzing them.

@SnaggedAgoodOne:  I love that ring … It’s so gorgeous!  (And I’m not usually a huge fan of halos.)

To answer your question, I’ve never seen a ring that looks like that.  I wouldn’t worry too much about whether or not your fiance had it custom made, though.  I can understand being curious about it to some degree, but at the same time I think I’d just feel that regardless of whether it’s custom or not, he picked out a beautiful ring that fits your personality and sense of style.  You may never know, but at least you know your ring is really unique and fabulous!

@llm1210:  I was just going to post this. I tried this ring on at Kay (your link is broken), but I’m having a hard time being able to tell if your center stone is round or square, OP. He may have had them put in a different center stone? Idk.

Oh gosh, Unfortunately this has been a huge misunderstanding from the get-go of this post. The OP is NOT assuming that he is lying.

It is very easy for a jewellery store to tell a less-than-informed man that the ring is being custom made, when in reality they are just changing the metal type/size/centre stone. The man then feels all puffed up about the fact that he had the ring “designed and custom made”. The OP, not wanting to possibly burst her FI’s bubble by questioning him deeply, decided to ask the Bees, out of curiosity, whether we think that the ring was actually custom made (i.e. designed by her Fiance and then made specially) OR if we had seen one like it before.

She loves her ring either way, she was just curious.

@SnaggedAgoodOne:  IMHO…my opinion on this matter isn’t significant–but yours is.   What do you truly believe? You love the ring, you love your finace and he loves you. If he took the time to custom make it, or took the time to find one that incorporates the elements of the other 3 rings, does one mean more to you than another? In knowing the answer, does that change the beauty, love and thought that went into it? πŸ™‚

I wouldn’t pay mind to the bee’s who have made disagreable comments on this subject, thats the nature of a public board.  Stay positive, and be happy. πŸ™‚

P.S. Your pictures are gorgeous, your fiance has amazing taste. Give us some ring specs, please: Finger size, 3 C’s, CT weight, TCW? πŸ˜‰

@SnaggedAgoodOne:  OMG! What is that–baguettes in the halo border? rounds in the corners?

I’ve looked at a lot of rings for the past few months on this and other sites nad I’ve not seen a halo like that. It is so vintage-y, it is fabulous!
