It looks super similar to the one from Kay’s a PP posted. I totally understand why you asked.

I have no idea if he did, but I personally would trust my FI’s word if he told me he did something.  Don’t question it, just enjoy your beautiful ring!

Wow that’s a beautiful ring!

I’m leaning towards custom… but I don’t think it would matter if it wasn’t it’s so unique and  lovely.

The way the original post was worded made it sounds like the OP was questioning her Fiance, not whether he understood what custom made was- that is why people have commented about her trusting him. She questioned whether he really had time to have the ring custom made or just ‘snagged; one that looked like the ones she wanted. That sounds more like questioning whether he lied about ‘how’ he chose the ring rather than whether the store was clear about what custom made was.

As soon as I saw your ring I remembered seeing one super similar at either Kay’s or Zales. It was always one of my favorites. After really examining your pics though I have to say I think he likely did have it made. It is very close to the one pictured at Kay’s but your halo looks slightly more square and your center stone is clearly larger and differently shaped. I’d wonder too if I were you and I don’t think you sounded like you definitely thought he was lying. Guys just typically get these kind of things confused. Picking a setting and putting a different center in would seem custom to most guys I think. However your ring came about it is fabulous!

Oh, and you didn’t post any pics of the side view. I’m betting your ring is different from the side than the one at Kay’s. I’m in love with your ring. So unique and gorgeous.

@celticbride: That may have been the way that the title sounded, however, if you read the post carefully the OP says this:

Im not complaining, i absolutely love it but just curious if he really took the time oto have it made or did he stumble across something that happened to look like the three rings in it”

I highlighted the important information.

She just wanted to know if he found her dream ring for her or had it made for her. She doesn’t care either way, it was just a curiosity.

If the other Bees had bothered to read the OP carefully then there would not have been this confusion.

Sorry for the vent but I have seen A LOT of threads lately where the OP was totally misunderstood because other Bees didn’t carefully read the posts. To the extent were even MODS have closed threads because they thought that the OP was attacking other Bees, when in fact she was telling Bees to do what they love, no matter what other people think (thankfully after contact with the Mod the thread was reopened after wrongfully being closed, which I am grateful for). Now yes, some OPs could obviously benefit from some better wording in their posts, however the responsibility to understand also falls on the readers as well and lately, people haven’t been reading very closely at all.

@Everdeen:  I did read the original post carefully. I know she said she loved the ring either way- as she should. That being said, the wording obviously came across to me and some others as if she didn’t necessarily believe her Fiance was telling the truth about how he got it (whether he found it or had it made). So, I think people were just questioning why she wouldn’t believe what her Fiance told her.

It was not until some other bees commented that OP finally clarified that she meant she wasn’t sure if her Fiance knew what custom made was, or if the store told him it was custom made when maybe it wasn’t. I really just think the original post was poorly worded and caused confusion.

@celticbride:  Perhaps we also need to start giving people the benefit of the doubt and clarifying before we jump on them for having trust issues.

*sigh* I just think that the Hive has become a bit jumpy lately and it is unfortunately making newer Bees feel uncomfortable. Perhaps everyone made New Years Resolutions to be more blunt and take less bullshit. 😛

@Everdeen:  to be clear, my reading comprehension is perfectly fine. I still think it is strange to question if he is telling the truth & as a reader I then question why she thinks he wouldn’t be. I was not being snarky or rude, just asking a question.

@SnaggedAgoodOne:

I have actually seen your ring before….it was on an australian wedding photographers website. One of his brides was wearing it….except she had what looked like a cushion cut centre stone instead of a princess like yours.

I had a picture of it on my old computer because i was tempted to see how much it would cost to have custom made.

I do think your Fiance did have it custom made as it is very unique…..

It is truly a beautiful ring..your a lucky girl…ingnore the not so nice replies…the bee is usually a very supportive place but there are some hot topics that always cause a bit of a hoo hah!! The one from Kay is similar, as is this: http://www.dantonioandklein.biz/14ktcushionshapedbaguettediamondhaloengagementringsetting.aspx

Why don’t you just ask him where he got it? Or ask him if you can see the certificate? Or ask him how custom it is? Or ask to see the wax mold? Fully custom pieces have molds cast so that you can see the setting before fabrication.

Most guys don’t go fully custom and instead change 1-2 things about a ring while sales staff croons “She’s going to love her custom ring!”

@distracts:  +1. My ring is essentially a Tiffany ring, but custom made with our family jewler. I’m sure it looks like thousands of other rings out there, but it was “custom”. I’m not sure why it matters if he had it made custom or bought it in a store?
