Im not doing programs to save money but I def think that they can be DIY for much cheaper! If you have the creative skill then definately go for it!

I’m sure they can, though I imagine you won’t save TOO much. It’ll become a time vs money thing I think.

You’ll have to buy a lot of paper, probably ink, and whatever those metal things are called (they aren’t called brads are they?)…. They are really cute though.

You absolutely can do them, but they are VERY time consuming unless you buy the precut paper (which is expensive).  There is a template out there somewhere if you google “petal fan program”.

I made these for our wedding, and then promptly forgot to bring them…grrr…

They were a PITA, and it took me a lot of tries to find paper that was heavy enough not to just be a floppy mess, but still punchable with the brad.  Super annoying task.

But, I have a template if you want to try!

I don’t think you’ll be able to do it for enough of a savings to make it worth it.

Like PPs said, this look very difficult to make well. While you may end up saving some money, I’d imagine that it wouldn’t be enough to justify the amount of time spend making them

I don’t think it’s worth it once you’ve spent the time designing, tweaking, printing, paying for paper, assembly etc.

    But, they are cute.

I DIY our programs and they were fantastic 😀 You can so do it for much cheaper. I paid $9 for all of our programs!!! I found program paper at Michaels on clearance!! From $50 to $9!! And it took probably 5 hours to do (by myself):

graphic designer here and yes you can do for way cheaper. I would recommend skipping the shape of them and doing something like 1/3 of the paper. So have your fiance lay out the design into 1/3’s (like in InDesign) and you will get the most bang for your buck…1 piece of paper makes 3 peices of your program 🙂 hope that helps!! Oh and also…see if he can have them printed at his school, they will normally charge cost which is way better than at home printing costs.
