I think half the dresses I have tried on so far have been satin or silk 🙂

I don’t think you will have to worry about it going our of style.

I definitely think it’s just classic, not a trend. I wouldn’t worry about it anyway, it’s YOUR dress and if you love it and feel beautiful, then how cares if it is out of style?! My dress is a silk/satin mixture and I absolutely love it! I could care less if people think it’s out of date or whatever else.

I think satin will always be in style.  Is it a new thing? I had no idea.  My personal preference was that I definitely didn’t want a satin dress.  But that’s because my face tends to get shiny.  And I’m plagued by memories of another time I wore a satin dress and in pictures, the dress and my face match because we’re both so shiny.  Not a good look.  But I think it looks lovely on others.

it’s just not “in” right now – the hot trend right now is Kate Middleton inspired – sleeves, lace, etc. But satin has not disappeared. it is a harder fabric to pull off though – because it’s shiny and everything is accentuated. with that said, a beautiful satin dress is quite a memorable and classic sight.

Satin has been around for bridal for a very long time. I don’t think it will ever disappear, especially silk satin (duchess satin or peau de soie), which is quite beautiful!

@Brielle:  +1

Yah my mom’s dress in 1980 was silk satin. I think it’s pretty classic and “forever”.
