I am planning on DIY flowers. Originally I thought of something simple for the bouquet – 2 dozen roses hand tied, or a mix of hydrangeas and roses. Boutonnieres – I’m not sure what yet.
Do you think the flower used for boutonnieres should also be in the bouquet?

I’ve always been of the mindset that they should be, but we aren’t doing that. Haha. Our bouquets will be made of peonies and roses, and the bouts will be calla lillies.
I asked my florist the same question, and she said it didn’t matter.

@nomnom: I don’t think it matters! We did mini cymbidium orchids in the bouts and had them in my bouquet as well. I think it’s anything goes! i like it when the colours are of the same palette, but that’s just me!

@nomnom: DH had a lavender bout (by his request) and I was convinced there wasnt any lavender in my bouquet but I went and looked at our wedding pics just to be 100%. Sure enough, there are a few pieces of lavender in the bouquet I carried. Although my florist put the lavender in the bouquets to match, I would say that it honestly doesnt really matter. Nobody checked to see if they matched. I had no clue they were in there and if they were missing, who would have cared?! Its a detail that just isnt that important. Just as long as it all flows together, you dont need to have them in your bouquet.

I don’t think that the bouts need to have the flowers in the bouquet but they should still be cohesive with your theme or other details of your wedding.
I had a brooch/fabic flower bouquet with silver and pearl brooches and I had a hair comb made of a pearl brooch and silver leaf. The bouts for the groom and groomsmen all had pearls and silver leaves.
The bouts I made for the parents, however, were the same flowers as in the bouquet with some pearls.

nah! I will be taking the approach of haing the boutineers and the bouquets “go,” not “match”
I want my Fiance to choose the boutineer and have it be something he likes and feels good with, not something I slap on his chest

@nomnom: my bouquet is roses so Fiance is having a rose and the groomsman will have a Ferber daisy to match the bms bouquets

Doesn’t have to be, but it is a nice way to tie a look together.
