I want to order the Maggie Sottero dress, Amour Brooch. The problem is- it’s last years dress and after calling 30 bridal shops within 3 states its not available to try on.
So, I was told to try on the dress Melissa Brooch for comparison. Apparently the bodice is simialr and would give me a good idea how the Amour Brooch would fit.
What do you think? It’s scary to go off of one dress for another.
Thank you

It does look similar to me. I think that the sizing among the designer should be similar so if you get basic measurements for the other one, you should be fine.

It looks almost identical. From what I saw when I was trying on Maggie dresses is that a lot of the bodices are similar especially with fit if they have the corset tie up in the back.

I think you will be fine… the fit is very similar up top and since it is the same designer it will work out just right.
Besides, alterations are your best friend!
Good luck π

A lot of dresses have “sister dresses”–they have modifications but have the same basic underlying pattern. The bodice on these looks extremely similar. Plus, Maggie corset dresses are really forgiving to size–since they can be cinched up or down, the fit can be altered quite a bit.
If you’re unsure, try calling a few dress shops and see if you can get a consensus opinion.

The top is almost identical! I also tried a lot of Maggie’s on and the corsets pretty much all fit the same.

They look the same! Plus if they’re a corset, i don’t see how it’d be ANY different. The skirt is really different (obviously)…have you tried on anything with a fluffy tiered skirt like the Amour Brooch? Because it could be a love/hate thing. It looks good on the model, but will it look good on you? I’d be more concerned about THAT than the bodice.

Looks the same too me. Plus, since they’re both Maggie’s, you should be okay! Good luck to ya!

Yes, I tried on this Christina Wu dress with the jaggedy style skirt and LOVE it, I am 6 feet tall and I love the way it looks. Also I think it shows off my crazy personality as well. π

Oh i think you’re good then! If you want the skirt to be full like the Cristina Wu dress, you can easily wear a petticoat or something underneath.
Also, I’m 5’11” and wore flats and my dress was JUST long enough. You may/may not want extra length depending on what’s going on. Usually it’s just a give-in you’ll need it but maybe not with a Maggie.

yeah, that is definitely something I need to think about. It’s a beach wedding so I will probably be barefoot and at the reception I will be wearing my Puma’s lol π
Seems easier to just get extra length and take it off if I don’t need it.

I think they are similar. I tried on the Madison and thought that the bodice also looked similar to these (however the fabric was totally different). Maybe try on a few dresses that seem to have the same fit.
