@KatNYC2011: i try and let him bring it up a lot of the time but every once in a while something slips out. not necessarily about the ring but about wedding in general, even if it’s just a small comment. i have been really good lately but today when he told me we basically took a step backward in the ring fund i had a mini melt down ๐Ÿ™

I try NOT to gawk when we walk past a jewelery store/counter, but I DO try to sneak a peek at his face to see if HE is looking in that direction. Usually he’s not ๐Ÿ™

And the jewlery commercials could be laundry detergent commercials. They don’t phase him. At all. His expression/mood/actions aren’t any different during the jewelery commercials than they are during any other commercial. And I don’t say anything during them, either, fwiw.

Le siiiiiiiiigh.

Haha, I almost forgot about yesterday. I TRIED to get something, anything out of him. Didn’t work. It was a commercial for metal detectors. It was going on and on about how you could get rich finding coins, scrap of precious metals, antiques and lost jewelery. (They showed pics of all the stuff you could find, one of which was a ring) I said, “Hey, baby, let’s go buy us a metal detector so we can dig up old jewelery and get rich quick, bahahahahaha!” His response? “Yeah, we’ll go out and find old guns and knives that are from like, the Civil War and stuff.” Wtf? Just goes to show how their minds think on the opposite end of the spectrum of ours most of the time.

My boyfriend definitely does notice. More than he used to. I’m always watching the wedding shows on TLC but I watched those before I met him. But he does notice I look longingly in jewelry stores when we’re at the mall know. I never used to do that until much recently.

I don’t stop in jewelry stores so he wouldn’t notice. The only time he notices is when I’m online looking at my jewelry forums.  He’ll say you are on there looking at rings again.  He just does it to get on my nerves and to tease me.

We hardly watch any type of brodcast TV, and only got to the Mall about once a year, so no, my BF doesn’t notice, simply because there’s nothing to notice.  ๐Ÿ™

I purposely don’t look in the jewelery stores while with my SO, aside from a quick glance. And also, like Wonderwoman, I quickly sneak a glance at HIM to see if HE’S looking. He never is, sadly.

During commercials, I go completely silent. There have been a few times over the last few months that he has been the one to comment on the commercials. One time he asked me if a 3 carat engagement ring was big. I just about had a heart attack, because I was on my laptop pretending I didn’t hear the commercial haha. Then, a couple months later, we saw an engagement ring on TV, and he asked if I thought it was a nice ring. Again, I could barely say a word because I was so shocked.

The other night, we were watching The Office episode where Jim proposes to Pam. I knew it was coming, and a couple minutes before, I grabbed my iPhone and started playing around on it. I didn’t even look at the screen while he was proposing in the show haha. My SO is beside me on the couch, he’s like “Awww…” and then I can feel him look at me. I did nothing! Didn’t acknowledge it at all hahaha. I’ve watched a wedding related show around him once or twice, only because I was already watching it when he came home, and I wanted to see the end. Other times, I’ve switched the channel. He even admitted to me once that he was watching a wedding show when I wasn’t home, because he was amazed at what an a-hole the groom was being! It was hilarious.

I definitely think they notice, the buggers! If only they knew the angst we go through when those shows/commercials come on. Mind you, in some cases, my guess is that it isn’t too comfy for them either.
