@Barbiestylez: Dude. What the hell? Who is letting their kid play GTA? I personally think I wouldn’t let ANY kid of mine play it. You want to play video games with naked chicks? Get a job, move out of my house and do that shit on your own time. But realistically, I guess like 17? But at that point I would have hoped to have raised a person who would find those sorts of things degrading and not worth their time. I’m not anti-video game but I am anti-beat-up-a-stripper-to-“win” games.

THhat game is not for kids and I was pretty surprised when my sil got it for her son a few years ago. Too young imo but then again she lets him and her dd wwatch movies that arre also not appropriate. I am not a prude either and jjst started letting my 13 year see movies that she was letting her son wacth at like 8.

It’s not appropriate for any age, in my opinion, and it’s bad parenting to expose elementary children to such things. I have children around those ages, and they are getting an Xbox for Christmas. I will certainly take this as a warning to check the games I purchase….truly unbelievable.

@Barbiestylez: In the UK, Grand Theft Auto is rated 18, so no-one under that age is allowed to buy it. Of course, people will buy it and give it to younger kids anyway, but I have to say I agree with the rating.

Definitely not appropriate for that age group! I would say maybe 15+ but no way in hell for a 6 or 10 year old.

I don’t think that any game that shows objectification of and violence towards women should be played by anyone!

Hubs played that game before and says it can be fun or whatever but feels it’s wrong for HIM to play that game…and he’s 26.
Killing prostitutes and doing evil things based on reality……there’s just something not right about it. Especially for kids. What does that teach them?

@Barbiestylez: I don’t think its appropriate for the 6yo, but the 10yo I have no qualms about.
Unless you’re a crappy parent they should know by that age that games are pure ridiculousness, and if they don’t you’ve cotton-swaddled them and that’s your own damn fault.
My brothers, sisters and I all played all sorts of violent games when we were kids, we all turned out fine. Its not that bad, boys will giggle over badly animated boobs at any age – let ’em.
Seriously, people here need to calm down. Kids do all kinds of things you don’t know about anyway. I bet you 90% of the kids who aren’t allowed videogames (or at least the popular or violent games) at home play them with their friends at school, after school, on the bus, at the pool. Any time your kid is out of your house they’re doing what the other kids are doing.

Also, thanks to everyone here, I now know I will be, my mother, my sister, my brother, my aunts and uncles all are “crappy” “bad” “irrisponsible” parents.
Cheers for the parent-bashing, peeps.

The sexual portrayals and abuse of women in the game is messed up. Part of GTA V is a mission to FILM A SEX TAPE with a faux-celebrity lookalike at the Chateaux Marmont. So… yeah. Not for kids.
Here’s a walkthrough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVixtmnFM_c
Car theft, hijinks, and crashes, whatever, but that’s messed up.

Yeah, for kids that age, HELL NO. My husband is a gamer, and I think we should have a huge discussion about our kids and video games, when we have them. I would probably say about 13, 14 years old would be more appropriate, but hubby will probably let them go a little earlier. 6yo is not an acceptable age to be playing that kind of game. At all.

Seriously that game is sooo fucked up on so many levels- having sex, going to strip clubs, watching others have sex and recording it, beating the shit out of, torturing & killing people? That’s all parts of the game. I don’t think ANYONE should be playing this shit. This is why kids get guns and go on shooting rampages look at what they are being exposed to. Whoever created this game is seriously messed up.

@MissSweetiepie: Totally agree. Fiance got it for xmas because he wanted it, & while I think its so ridiculous and stupid, he likes the game — but he is an adult who would never steal, hire a prostitute, kill people, etc, etc — so he KNOWS the diffference between a GAME & REALITY. Kids do not know the difference. I think its extremely unhealthy for children to be playing these games.

That is absolutely inappropriate! My SO and I play that game and there are parts that make me cringe and hurry through. I have also had a discussion about games with my SO as he is a total gamer. He does not 100% agree with me, but I’ve come to the conclusion that while my children are at home, they are not allowed to play games during the week, only on the weekends, and even then only if it is appropriate.
Ugh, a SIX year old? That kind of breaks my heart.
