So my top contender is Avery Jennifer. I love the name, but Darling Husband watches ESPN in the morning and I keep hearing the name come up but as male sports players. What do you think when you hear the name Avery?
The others on our list are:
Cheyenne- Everyone hates it.
Kendall- On the fence.
Charlotte- SIL is due 5 weeks after me and has this name on her list so I don’t want to steal her name.
Kenzie- DH’s favorite
Paige- It’s also my cousin’s middle name

You need an option for gender neutral.

Either. It’s a very unisex name, but I think it’s prettier on a girl. 🙂

I think it could go either way, but I definitely would lean towards thinking “girl” when I see it. Very pretty!!

I think of Avery on Grey’s Anatomy which is a male character. But I think it could go either way.

I always think of Avery from the book Charlotte’s Web, which is a boy.

i think girl when i hear that name.
And i also think you should pick whatever name you and Darling Husband love. your reason for ruling out Cheyenne is the reason I decided not to tell anyone our baby’s name until he is born!

I’ve heard of this being used as a girl’s name, but it always makes me think boy. I like Kendall and Kenzie much better.

It can definitely go either way and it would be very pretty for a girl.

I’ve more commonly heard Avery as a girl’s name (Avery Jessup on 30 Rock, for example) but it’s fairly neutral.
Of your other names, I like Charlotte the best–it’s less trendy than the others. But I definitely understand not ganking your SIL’s baby name.

I’ve only ever known girls named Avery so that’s what I think of. On your list, Charlotte is my favorite.

@PurpleUnicorn- It has been my favorite name for years. But it’s a tribe name and my LO will have an Irish last name. I kept hearing how disrespectful it was, so I don’t want her to have a name that could be offensive to anyone.

I’d go with Paige. I like a more traditional name and am a bit burned out on the trend of gender-neutral names, creative names, and such. Some gender-neutral names are ok but most kinda sound like the parents were trying a little too hard, and as a result came up with kind of a clunky, awkward name.
