Can I just tell you that, after reading the headline of your post, and before I ever saw the name you were asking about, that the first name that came to my mind that you may be asking about was Avery.

I know a man whose name is Avery, and I know a little girl with the same name.

@JlovesM:  I think of Avery on Grey’s Anatomy which is a male character.

That’s his last name ;).  First name is Jackson.

I voted girl because I was thinking of Avery Jessup from 30 Rock, and I know it’s becoming a popular girl’s name.  But afer I voted I started to think it was gender neutral.

i think of avery from 30 rock when i hear it, so i voted for girl. its defitinely my favorite of all the choices you have shared (charlotte is great too, but seems like you are leaning away from that because of SIL).

FWIW, i have known boys names Kendall. i think its a girl name but apparent its also gender neutral? so dont let that stop you if you like avery!

I voted gender neutral – it is a boy’s name and I think it’s very elegant on a man, but it’s commonly used for girls these days. From your list, I prefer Paige by a mile!

I voted boy but then changed my mind because in my head when I think Avery I hear Alec Baldwin’s voice in 30 Rock saying it and that Avery is a girl. So I think it can be gender neutral. Also I really like the name.

I think of Avery Jessup on 30 rock, to, so I think of a girl. I like Avery–it’s different but it’s not incredibly trendy. I also like Paige or Charlotte.

I think of Avery as a girl’s name, and it’s one of my recent favorites. Of the others on your list, I like Charlotte and Kendall very much.

I think a girl because of Avery on 30 Rock.

Out of all your other choices, Kendall is my favorite.

Avery is what I am hoping to convince DH to name our future daughter, if we have one.  He thinks it’s a boys name though.

Damn hockey players, taking the good names, LOL!

An athlete and his wife recently named their daughter Avery.  Maybe one of the Manning boys? I love it, regardless.

I’ve always thought of it as more of a boy name – sorry! What about using it as a middle name?

Of the other names on your list, I like Charlotte the best because it’s classic and feminine. Kenzie is super cute, but I can’t really picture a grown woman with that name. My rule for names is they need to sound equally good for babies and adults. 🙂
