I lean towards girl for Avery.  I really like Kendall, I work with a girl named Kendall.

@SincerelyShe:  Completely agree about Charlotte. We had the name Charlie picked for a boy or girl and the name Charlote has completely ruled the name out for a girl (a lot of people use Charlie as a nn to Charlotte). It will be the next fad name for a couple of years.

I LOVE the name Avery!  Although I’m not at the baby-making stage yet, Avery is top on my list of names for girls.

RE Kenzie, my name is Mackenzie.  I absolutely adore my name.  It was great as a kid and now as an adult because it’s different but not too common.  People will often think it’s a last name, which can be annoying, and it will always be mispelled, but I have loved it.  Yes people could call you Big Mac and tease you as a kid, but to be honest, people can call you anything mean if they want to.

It’s a definately a gender nuetral name.  Though if it was on my name list (and it’s not), I would use it for a boy.  But that’s just a personal opinion.

I agree with PP, it’s a unisex name, but I like it better for a girl.

I always thought Avery was a male name… I love Charlotte but it translates weird to spanish.

Avery was on my list of baby girl names that I liked, actually it was one of the only 2. Unfortunately DH thought it sounded like a boys name. I think it sounds like a girls name. I have heard it go both ways, so I say gender neutral. We will be naming our baby Ava…its one we both always loved, and similar to Avery.

The only Avery I ever knew in life was a girl, so I think of girls

All the Avery’s I know personally are boys, but I always thought it was a feminine name growing up 🙂 I think all of your name choices are fine and that you and your hubby should choose the name that fits your child best/that you like best regardless of whatever anyone else thinks! Also, kids will always find something to tease other kids about, and there is always going to be someone that doesn’t like the name 🙂 (plus, by the time your kid/her friends are watching t.v., 30 Rock will be gone and the football player will have retired…there will be a whole new string of actors/actresses with unisex names!)
