for things like waxing, electrolysis, eyebrow shaping, haircuts, manicures…..
i always tip my hairdressers. hard not to when they have tip jars sitting in front of you the whole time they are working on your hair!
but i never used to tip where i used to get waxed in my hometown. and now i moved and found someone new. she asked me if i wanted change back when i paid her? then i realized she must usually get tipped. i am trying to save every penny for the wedding, plus the cost of waxing here is double from where i used to go. so adding more to that seems crazy to me. I said no i don’t need change when she asked (which was $1). but should i have tipped more? and how much? everything she did was $79

Service = tips. I typically give 10-20% of the total, depending on how happy I am with the service.
Here are a couple helpful articles:

i always do 20%, unless i am unhappy with what was done, and even then i tip.

Always! Anyone I feel like deserves one gets one, hair, nails, massage, waxes, etc. I got a tip while working at a hotel, it was my only one (and only 5 bucks) but it was amazing! I made sure they had extra towels and linen service. Made me think that I will ALWAYS TIP!

@melisslp: same. haircut & color runs me about 100, so I usually leave a $15-$20 tip. i don’t go to anyone to do any of the other stuff though, so I can’t comment.

I tip for everything.
Whenever I get my hair cut, I get it dyed as well so that normally costs $100. I always tip $20.
Eyebrow waxing is $9 and I tip $5.
Manicure/Pedicure is $20 for 1 or $35 for both. I tip $10-$12 depending on what I have done.

I always tip for any beauty service, including hair, nails, and eyebrow waxing. I tip 20%. I usually tip 20% for everything, not just beauty stuff. I’ll leave 15% if I’m not pleased with the service.

Yes! I always tip 20+% for beauty treatments…more if it is something inexpensive like an eyebrow wax.

I always tip! $3-$5 for my nails (20%) and $10 for a bikini wax (typically $35, but it’s $80 for a brazilian and then i give $15), extra for hair (i go to a salon school, so it’s like $30 for highlights and i always give $10-$15) and around 15-20% for massages, too.
That lady does your lady bits–tipping is nice 🙂 Plus you don’t want her to be crabby next time she does it for you, lol!!!

I always tip for manicures, waxing etc…
I am very concious about tipping since I worked in the service industry for quite some times and relied on tips for most of my income. I also make sure and tip extra during the holidays

I tip 15-25% depending on how happy I am with the service and what was done. I don’t get my hair/nails done professionally very often (1-2x a year) so I don’t mind tipping more when I do.
