I think my honey has great taste but i thank God i picked out my own ring! I think he would of most definitely picked something out that was beautiful but when we starting discussing ring budget he thought it was ok to spend around $15k!!! WHAT? No sir! I am not a flashy person and would feel uncomfortable with a huge rock on my finger, plus I’m on the petite side. So I cut his crazy budget by more than half (6K) and I am beyond happy with my ring. Its okay to show him pictures of what you have in mind but if you want to be 100% happy i say pick your own theres no problem with that. This ring will be on your finger for the rest of your life and you should be happy and comfortable with it.

Initially we got in a fight about this very topic. He wanted to pick out my ring on his own, and I wanted to give him input. Now he’s agreed to let me try things on, but we haven’t gone shopping yet. I think we’re going to have to do a lot of compromising. I think what’s bothering him is that he wants credit for picking out the ring haha. I think he feels that the ring is going to be a reflection of his taste in other people’s eyes. He’s a people pleaser. So when someone is admiring my ring, he wants to be able to say he chose it himself. At least I think that’s why he cares so much. I’m petite with small hands and stubby little fingers. I don’t wear any jewelry on a regular basis. Plus I’m a control freak so I *need* my ring to suit me.
I think if it matters that much to you it’s definitely worth discussing. Like I said, my boyfriend was initially upset and totally rejected the idea but once I explained to him what it meant to me he came around. I was literally having nightmares about ugly rings haha.

Next time I reply to a post, I’m going to challenge myself not to start sentences with “I think…” :/

He didn’t trust himself… he asked me for details on what I liked!
I trust him to always do reconnaisance when he isn’t sure.
