I have a diamond but I imagine I’d feel the same regardless of what stone I had, I could never upgrade! I am very sentimental with my ring/stone. (If you’re talking about an engagement ring of course!)

I e never seen people upgrade when a new type of Moissanite is created, I wouldn’t say that’s the norm.

I’ve really only seen people do that if they had forever classic stones due to the yellow/green tint, which is understandable. However, moissanite is cheap enough to keep upgrading if you’d like. The stones alone sell for a decent amount also if you want money towards the newer stone.

I upgraded my moissanite when F1 came out.  Original was FB the new is F1.  I had issues with the integrity of the handmade setting.  Rather than recasting the same setting again I went a different direction with a new Jeweler and upgraded the stones.

When Darling Husband bought my ring, F1 had reecntly come out, but I wanted to go with FB because I like its warmth. I don’t plan on upgrading my ring, even if another warm moissanite stone comes out, becuase it’s the ring Darling Husband proposed to me with. The only reason I would change my ring would be if I lost it or if it somehow got broke beyond repair, but I’d try to keep it as close to the original as possible.
