My family used to use our microwave almost daily when I was a kid, pretty much up until I met my Fiance (4.5 years ago) we’ve really cut down since then. My parents still use it, but I’ve pretty much cut my use of it 99% of the time. The odd time I’ll use it at work.
FI’s parents are like, totally anti-microwave. Fiance is too & so are his brothers. They’ve never had one at home and heat anything “small” up either on the stove top or in a toaster oven.
I’ve cut down my usage because when Fiance and I move in together I know we won’t have one at home lol

We dont use ours very often. I’ll occasionally use it to heat up some water for tea if I dont feel like using the teapot but thats about it.

I use mine every morning to thaw the frozen blueberries I put in my breakfast smoothie. I also use it a lot when I’m baking, and realize that the butter I was supposed to take out and put on the counter hours ago is still solid and cold in the fridge.
Are you not going to have a microwave only because your Fiance is against them?

I use a microwave to heat up leftovers, make popcorn etc.. I wouldn’t say I use it every day.. maybe once a week.

@Stephville: We don’t have a microwave but it is purely due to the fact that Fiance is a food snob. It drives me crazy but we don’t really have the counter space inour shoe box anyway. I use my microwave at work every chance I get.

I do those steamfresh veggies all the time, or heat up leftovers, as long as it’s not pizza which I reheat in the stove because microwaved pizza gets nasty. Other than pizza, pretty much everything I’d rather have it quicker and it doesn’t really taste any different to microwave, so why would I waste 30 minutes over a stove for something that can heat up in 5 in the microwave if the end game is the same?

That’s kind of weird to never use one! It’s way faster AND more energy efficient to use it to heat up small things / water / etc.

@Little_Nut88: I do that a lot too.. also when cream cheese is supposed to be room temp, I’ll pop it in there for a few seconds to warm up if I’ve forgotten to take it out.

I’m a girl who loves her microwave! We use it a bunch. Particular for steamable frozen veggies, heating single portions of water for tea, leftovers, microwave dinners on lazy nights, melting cheese on our tacos…. It’s a great appliance.

I use mine often. To heat up microwave dinners, soup, leftovers, frozen veggies, etc. It’s faster than a stove or oven, and works better for doing a plate of food that isn’t meant to be mixed together. It also cuts down on dirty dishes.
If I had to pick between a microwave or stove, I would pick the microwave (although I wouldn’t be thrilled about it).

I’m probably the only weirdo here that uses it to warm up my dogs food lol I give him a little canned food on top of his dry food each day, and once the can is open I’ll stick it in the fridge for the next day. So when I feed him I’ll put it in the microwave just to get the chill out.. man that dog is spoiled!!

We use ours weekly, but not daily. I’m not sure it’s any worse for you than any of the other shit we do/breathe on a daily basis :-

I’m a leftovers queen so I’d probably die without my microwave!! I heat up my lunch every day, and I also often use it to quick-defrost meat for dinner.

I use mine a lot. Melting butter, defrosting things, reheating things, making popcorn, cooking frozen vegetables when I don’t have fresh at hand, baked potatoes when I’m short on time etc. etc.
