buzzerbeater :  I think that “expensive” is subjective, but I have a variety of brands from contemporary designers like Coach and Michael Kors to more premier like Marc Jacobs and LV. All of my bags are leather except for the LV, which I have in Damier Ebene canvas, so only the tab and straps are leather. My usual every day bag is the Coach Rogue, which I have in two colors and different sizes and their prices range from $600 – $800.

I love leather because it lasts for a long time and you don’t have to baby it most of the time. Lately I’ve been downsizing a lot but still carrying a leather MK cross body (the black one below).

I have a bunch of designer purses and I wear them all the time. I don’t buy something to put it on my shelf amd admire it. I’ve been wearing a LV Surene this season and I really like it.

jellybellynelly :  I have two Chloes and I love them. So I carried them a ton. Unfortunately, that meant that the handle on my large Marcie (which was over $2k!) has unraveled so the bag looks awful and is now really unusable. I really need to get it repaired. I’ve had similar things happen with my Balenciaga bags. 🙁 But I have a variety of less expensive bags – Kate Spade, Botkier, etc. that get a lot of use and they still look perfect. So you probably made the right decision!

I use my LV neverfull everyday (work, errands, etc) and I switch to my tiny Tory Burch crossbody if I’m going out at night.

Bags are meant to be loved and used!

I am obsessed with purses. I kind of have two categories when I think expensive purses. I would say Kate Spade, Coach, MK, etc. are nice but not super expensive. Then there’s designer like LV, Givenchy, etc.

I am super cheap and bought all of the purses below from $100 and under. Some of them retail for over 2k. But they’re vintage.

The purses below are ones I carry on a daily basis. My husband gifted me the blue Coach purse and I used it everyday since August until just a few days ago. I love it! The pink purse is one that Pippa Middleton carries and it’s affordable and honestly one of my favorites. Then the black is a nice Kate Spade purse that goes with everything.

I also have a few designer bags that I love. Like I said, I bought them used online. The top left is a Tod’s purse that Kate Middleton has two of. The bottom left is another one that Kate Middleton carries. And the larger pic on the right is a Tod’s purse that Princess Diana carried.

I carry all of these purses on a rotation and usually carry them for months at a time. Because they’re all real leather and made well they hold up amazingly. I don’t necessarily baby them, I mean I use them a lot. I definitely clean them, wipe them down, dont’ set them on nasty surfaces, etc. I think purses are meant to be carried as long as you take care of them.

This is embarrassing…

I have lots of Coach bags. I am picky and only get bags made for retail and not factory. Most I use all the time. Sure they get abused from daily use but I enjoy them. And then I have a few special ones that still have tags. Mint condition, stuffed with paper, in their bag and the original box. If I returned them to the store they would be grabbed up very quickly. I had a Haley in marine that I returned and I have regretted it ever since.

I try to buy fairly sturdy, classic bags that I can carry daily. Typically these are in the $200-$500 range (Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Rebecca Minkoff, Marc Jacobs). I usually carry them for about a year each. I think the Tory Burch lasted about two years before it showed a lot of wear. For the last year and a half I’ve been carrying a small short handle Longchamp Le Pliage (I think I paid about $70USD when you remove VAT) that I bought on our honeymoon so it’s got some sentimental value.  It’s also held up amazingly well (except for a bit of corner fraying which always happens with those bags). I hand wash it every month or so and it looks great. I have a Tory Burch bag I usually carry on nights out. I’m planning to get an LV Speedy 25 this year when we’re overseas again and intend on carrying it everyday until it falls apart.

I have a lot of purses. My current favorite is an alligator bag I snagged at a garage sale{a/k/a
Buy my crap”} for $50. I  decided to go to the guy who repairs bags in town and he told me he thinks it’s a 1940s real thing.  I do appreciate quality because in my experience you get what you pay for {except at my lucky garage salelaughing!

I do indulge myself when it comes to bags.  My current favorite evening bag is a small crystal- bag i with a panther’s head with green eyes for a clasp.

I use my Goyard tote every day for work/ errands. Use it rain or shine. Even used it as a diaper bag. It’s probably 10 or 12 years old and is a workhorse.  I have some nicer smaller bags for evening and more structured leather bags that I occasionally use. But my “everyday” bag is going to be used everyday. That’s it’s purpose.
