Heck yes! Why let these pretty things waste time sitting in a box? : (19 votes)

After my shower I used the things I got right away. We got a lot of things we really needed, so after the shower was over we took everything out of the box. I don’t think you have to wait until after the wedding at all, unless you want to! We got these awesome Caphalon pots/pans that we really needed so we immediately starting using those.

I mean, it makes sense to use them if yall already have a house or a place together but to me personally, I wouldn’t do it. The gifts are for your married life and would seem kinda tacky to go ahead and start using them before the wedding. I don’t know, I’m guess I’m very traditional! However, I know I will be VERY tempted because I am so excited about things I have already picked out! To each their own!

I think I would feel guilty if we did, but if there’s something you could really use and you know you’re going to make it down that aisle no matter what, then go for it.  (Not to say I have any doubts for my wedding, but for me it would be like opening Christmas presents early.)

I think you should definitely NOT use any of the wedding gifts before the wedding has actually happened.  You never know what might happen and if the wedding is called off for whatever reason, the gifts are supposed to be returned to the givers.  Not saying that will happen, but I’d personally feel like I’m jinxing things if I used them.

I voted for ” heck yes”! I can’t wait. I will not feel one ounce of guilt. I cannot think of one person that is coming to my showers and wedding that would care.

No guilt. We got a whole new set of dishes and several pans from showers and have been using them every day. I did poll my female family members before doing so, and the consensus was that since we’re living together, we might as well (my mom didn’t, but they weren’t living together). And, frankly, there’s no way we aren’t going through with this. So why not?!

I think I’d wait.. more “fun” to come home to after the honeymoon! I’m nuts about gadets and stuff, so that could just be me.

Hehe. WE got a super early shower gift from Future Mother-In-Law. We cracked it open immediately and put that baby to work the following weekend.

So far we’ve used absolutely everything we’ve received!

Future Mother-In-Law got so upset when she heard we were breaking that rule, so even though she & Future Father-In-Law gave us 2 place setting as a bday present (ours are both in the fall) she won’t let us take them home till after the wedding.  She doesn’t trust us not to use them (and she’s right – we totally would use them and just lie to her about it!)

We only used the pots and pans his mother got us, since it was Passover and we needed new pots and pans.  Otherwise, everything else is on our office and I’ll probably wait another week or two to put them away, since we are six weeks out.
