We foster kittens as our good deed! We hold on to them all week and then take them back to get adopted on the weekends. It’s fun and it makes us feel good, but it’s sometimes really hard work and takes lots of patience!

I volunteer and absolutely looove it. We do a few things, I used to be a community organizer so I still go back to my old neighborhoods and volunteer. We currently volunteer at block projects, block clean ups, rebuilding of parks, We also do Habitat for Humanity and we also do work for a local animal rescue.

So I am all about volunteering! Its good for the soul

I have a sticky pad that says "stop me from volunteering". Seriously, it’s a little addictive.

I run seminars on how to navigate the volunteer world and what ops are available to you that best match your needs and interests. I would check out volunteermatch.com  – they’ll have tons of specific postings for your area that you can sort through by various filters.  Sometimes it’s good to try something out first before you commit yourself to a program, training etc..

Myself, I volunteer for several sexual assault and violence intervention programs on a local and national level (RAINN, JoyfulHeart-national), for WriteGirl, a female empowerment writing program for girls 13-18 y.o. and I am an advisor for the Junior League of Los Angeles.  If you want to meet great women and gain a ton of practical experience, I highly recommend Junior League. It has a funny reputation in some areas but I think it’s fantastic. The women are incredible.

I don’t volunteer regularly but I want to.  In the past, I’ve volunteered at food banks, sorting donations, which I’ve always enjoyed.  I also like doing river cleanups and other types of environmental restoration projects.  Volunteering at a library or museum sounds like fun, too.
