Anyone else into the new MTV Show Are you the one?
I have been wanting to see a reality show that’s a compeition where people don’t get eliminated for ages and I’ve got to say, I really like this one (in a guilty pleasure kind of way). I’m totally fascinated with trying to figure out who the matches are.
There is even a website that tracks all the matches http://areyoutheonetracker.wordpress.com/
Anyone have guesses on the correct couples?

@cbgg: GUILTY!!! I find it to be a fascinating social experiment, in all honesty. Sure, it is on MTV, and sure, probably pretty skewed (as in, they tell you that they underwest extensive testing on who is their ‘perfect’ match, but do not tell you exactly what the tests were, and/or is there ever really a ‘perfect’ match?!). But, the idea in and of itself is prette interesting!
For me to name whom I think are perfect matches is tough, because honestly, I am still learning names, but I can say that I think Kayla and (what’s his name?) SEEM pretty awesome. WHY THEY DID NOT SEND THEM, or even crazy Brittany and the guy whom hates her into the match box is beyond me?!
For all intents and purposes, they house mates are not playing the game smart…at all. I liked how the one girl was trying to convince them to keep the two couples together whom they thought had the most chemistry for the lighting ceremony, because they had two matches last week, and then mix it up from there with everyone else. But, they did not.
I think what will make me happy – as far as a reality show outcome – is for their perfect matches to be so ‘far off’ from whom they are or were initially attracted too, because that is what I think they should be doing on the show…date outside their box. This show has ratings, afterall 🙂

@OUgal0004: I also can’t stop thinking about how this whole “matching” process went down and if that matches won’t be totally random in the end. Like really, how are they going to find these perfect guys for these girls? Plus, they chose the girls first and then found the perfect guy for the girl…not necessarily the perfect girl for the guy. (I get that I’m totally over analyzing it here, but this is how they said they did it.) Given that, doesn’t seem so suprising that there are several girls are who totally into certain guys, but those guys don’t like them (Simone & John, Brittany & Adam).
I really want to see them get a Truth Booth couple correct so that we can see what the honeymoon bungalow (or whatever they are calling it) is like, and so that we can see if a relationship develops between the match.
In any case, I hope the show is popular enough to get a reunion show so we can see if any of the matched couples have stayed together after the show.

@cbgg: Completely and totally agree. I mean, in listening to them talk/interact as a viewer, they seem to be a bunch if immature and horny ‘real world wannabes’, and not people that are legitimately into finding ‘true’ love!! Sheesh..the exes of the guys made that pretty clear when they are pretty much saying ‘IM NOT GOING ANYWHERE ladies’, and the guys reaction is klinking beers and laughing.
Also a reason this show seems so skewed 🙂 (Again, enter my love of Kayla and Nick maybe…they seem to be COMMUNICATING as well as flirting).
I totally want to see a truth booth match, but they need to send the RIGHT person. Why send a couple whom have barely talked, or interacted into the booth – just because one chose the other for a date to ‘get to know them better’?!
IDK. We shall see, but I am so excited you started a thread 🙂

@OUgal0004: I think your talking about Kayla and Ryan.
Yeah, I’m totally with you. These guys are definetly Real World types, soooo not ready for or interested in finding lasting love. What the heck was with all the ex’s 1) hating on the guys, or 2) saying they’ll still be around?
It made me think a lot about what I’d say about my ex’s if I were on a show like that. It’d be thinks like “he’s a really great guy and a devoted boyfriend,” and “no we don’t talk anymore, but it’s not because of ill will, I’m always happy to run into him on the street or at a party,” or “what makes him a great boyfriend is that he loves to have fun and play sports and he’s a great cook,” and “the right girl for my ex would be a nice girl who’s down to earth, has professional ambitions and drive, and can get along with his huge group of friends.”
But you know, I’m a grown up 30 year old who’s married and has always dated nice guys. I am not the type of person who’d ever constent to being on a relaity show where they tape you all day!…except for the Amazing Race. Because that would be awesome.
I read online that Tre and his ex (the one who said “you can do what he wants but I’ll always be in the picture” and then in interview Jacy called her a ho) are mid divorce and have a baby together. Sheesh. Surprised they haven’t made that a storyline.

One of the girls on the show, Paige, went to my high school, but I haven’t watched it yet. She had a boyfriend before going on the show so I’m not sure if she was still with him during the show or broke up right before filming, but the whole ‘reality TV dating’ thing is not my cup of tea anyway. Its all too scripted. A good friend of mine starred on the TV show “Downsized”, and she told me often of how directed the entire thing was.
