I can’t remember the last time I wore stockings. Every once in a long while (like, every other year or so), I’ll wear tights. But when I wear peep toe shoes, nothing comes between my feet and the shoes.

@LGenz: haha totally agree! It would be way stranger for me to see that…your toes wouldn’t match your legs!

Hardly anyone I know in my generation (late 20’s) ever wears stockings.  I pretty much refuse to ever wear them, because I end up with giant runs down my legs every time.

I do still wear stockings with particular outfits, but I avoid wearing them with open-toed shoes.

Toeless stockings are the answer Needless to say this only works if you are wearing a “nude” colored stockings

I don’t even own a pair of stockings! I do wear cute tights. I don’t think April is too early to go bare legged though, just wear a cardigan to keep warm maybe.

@MacFaniam24:  I think it’s one of those things all our mothers drilled into us as girls because it was the default then, but it’s become old fashioned in the past ten years or so.

Even though I really hate stockings, I definitely wear the peds, though.  I find they’re really great when I’m not sure if my shoes are broken in enough to wear barefoot, and they make tighter shoes fit better.

Haha I definitely think it’s a generational thing.  My mom and grandma ALWAYS used to tell me I needed to be wearing hose when I went out without them in the winter.  I generally hate the look of them, but sometimes for work when I have to wear a suit or something, I suck it up and put some on (I’m a teacher, so for any parent conferences or open houses, I’ll wear them.).

I always wear stockings with a dress because that is how I was raised; however, I think that wearing stockings is a generational thing. I didn’t raise my daughter to wear stockings with her dresses and she doesn’t wear them, except on very formal occasions.

My mother ingrained the same idea into me. I will sometimes wear stockings with peep toe shoes… but I’ll get the kind of stockings that don’t have the reinforced toe or whatever so it doesn’t show as much.

But early April should be fine. I’m up in Canada and I’ll be stocking-less for my shower on April 10th!

Never wear stocking with peep toe shoes.  If it is cold enough for tights you shouldn’t be in peep toed shoes.  Peep toes shoes are for summer months with bare legs.

I would wear closed toed shoes with tights in April.

I will wear opaque tights with open-toed shoes as long as it looks very deliberate. LIke this (these are not me but I love these examples):

But I never, ever wear sheer hose, and even if I did, I wouldn’t wear it with open-toed shoes.

Seeing people do this is one of my pet peeves also. I think that April would be fine to wear the peep toes without stockings! If you feel like you have to wear stockings I’d switch to closed toed shoes. And I also think that the footless stockings look even more odd!!
