I’ve recently got engaged and only just received my ‘proper’ ring today. I’ve never had much expensive jewellery before now so I’ve no idea if you’re supposed to wear it all the time or not?!
I thought you were supposed to never take it off but it feels so unnatural to me to shower in it/clean in it etc. I suppose that’s because I’ve never had anything other than costume jewellery before that would get damaged. What do you ladies do?!
My ring isn’t a huge stone and it’s not a high setting so it shouldn’t get in the way. It’s a platinum band if that makes a difference.

I have a 1.5ct solitaire in white gold, I take it off when I shower and sometimes when I’m cleaning. Otherwise I pretty much wear it all the time, even at the gym, in the pool/ocean/lake/river, etc.
That said, there’s nothing “wrong” with taking it off, I’m not sure why you thought you were never supposed to take it off, but I know several women who choose not to wear theirs regularly. Just depends on what youre comfortable with.

Don’t shower/ clean with it! You can lose it in the shower when your hands are cold and wet, and harsh cleaning chemicals can damage the stone.
I take mine off to shower, sleep, clean, and work out. When I take it off, I always put it in the same place (jewelry box).

I really only wear my rings when I leave the house. I take them off and put them in my ring dish when I get home, and when I’m leaving anywhere I grab them on the way out. I’m always worried I’ll scratch my dog with it or bump it when I’m cooking so I just take them off when I’m relaxing at home.

I would say I don’t wear mine more often than I do wear it, and we are still just as married despite me not wearing my ring.
I take it off for bathing, sleeping, cleaning, working out, camping, most adventures, anything where it might get stabby, and days when I’m working in the field.

When I was engaged, I took it off whenever I showered, went to the gym, gardened, did dishes, slept, etc. But now that I’m wearing my whole set, the only time I take the e-ring off is to work out (mostly because I know the more I take it off, the higher the chance is I’ll lose or misplace it). Do whatever you’re comfortable with.

I wear mine all the time except using harsh chemicals or weight lifting. I have recently worn a silicone band because it’s hot as hell and my fingers are swollen from that and some weight gain. But generally yes I wear it all the time

I hate the idea of wearing an e-ring all the time. I take my ring off when I get home. I would never wear it in the shower/bath, gardening, cooking, sleeping or working out as personal preference. But I totally baby my e-ring. Some people wear theirs while touching raw meat or lifting weights and all of that gives me anxiety lol.

I take mine off a lot – to sleep, work out, ride my horse, clean – pretty much I take it off when I get home from work. I don’t wear it hiking, on any kind of active vacation, etc. I do always wear a band though. I find just wearing the band to be more comfortable.
On the other hand, I don’t think my mom’s taken her set off for the 34 years she’s been married (it’s, like, stuck on her hand), so to each their own!

I do not but my sister in law does but I have a 1 year old so there are alot of things I put my hands on, its just easier to not worry about my rings. When I get home I change into lounge clothes, put my hair up, and jewely comes off

I wear mine most of the time. I take it off when I’m sleeping or showering…and the dishes cause I wear rubber gloves. If I’m having a day at home on the weekend and not planning on leaving, I don’t wear any jewelry including my engagement ring. Other than that this baby is on my hand!

I put my rings on when I leave the house. When I get home, they go into a ring bowl. I never wear them swimming, working out, cleaning, etc.

When I was engaged, I wore my band 100% of the time, only taking it off when I slept. Now that we’re married, I don’t wear it as often, I just wear my wedding band around the house and usually only put on the engagement ring when we leave.

I take it off to wash my hair (hair gets caught around it and drive me insane) or doing something particularly dirty. Otherwise, it’s always on.

When I was engaged, I basically only wore my engagement ring from 7:45 am (when I got dressed for work) until 5 pm (when I changed into sweats and took all my jewelry off). I didn’t wear it to work on days where I worked out after work, and didn’t wear it when I traveled. On weekends, I only wore it when we went on date nights.
Now that we’re married, it’s the same, except that I wear the engagement ring slightly less even than I did before. I have a simple band that stays on 24/7, and I love the way it looks alone.
I don’t find rings, minus plain flat metal bands, to be especially comfortable. I never found myself in a place where I didn’t notice it, it gets in the way when I try to cook/clean/put my hands in my pocket/etc.
