Do you wear your engagement ring all the time?

I take my rings off when I shower, paint or handle raw meat. I hardly ever swim, but I also take them off before swimming, weather it’s in the ocean or a pool. I have two ring dishes to keep them in.

Your ring is so beautiful by the way. And that center stone is plenty big.

Because of the width of the band, would advise you to take it off if you are going to be doing anything taxing with your hands. Like golfing, weight lifting, working out etc…

Because it is platinum and not white gold it will be more sturdy. However,  if it is a stock setting (and not custom made) it probably has been sized which means there can be a weak joint right at the bottom of the band.

I would also check those prongs every six months or so. If you show me a side view of the diamond/prongs I can tell you if the setting has been undercut or the prongs just bent over which will make a world of difference for the security of the diamond. (I am a jeweler so ask me anything)

Ok…wonderful. Such good news that it was custom made for your finger. That is half the battle. And the platinum makes it so much less prone to bending.

The prongs look to be properly undercut and not just bent over the diamond. If you look closely you can see that there is a little notch where the edge of the diamond sits in. That is a lot harder to do and even harder to do correctly and make sure the diamond is level. So kudos to whoever made that ring. It was made correctly which is pretty rare these days.

Given all those things I would say it is going to be pretty resiliant. Again, if you are working out with weights or golfing or anything that could bang your diamond quite hard…I would take it off. But yours should hold up to pretty much everyday wear & tear pretty well!

I feel naked without my rings ! I wear them all the time unless I am gardening, showering (sometimes i remember to take them off sometimes I don’t) and when I wash the dishes. Otherwise I never take them off.

The rings stay on all the time – except gardening, DIY, cleaning with bleach, dealing with raw meat or handling dough (the cooking kind).

So they stay on when showering, sleeping, going to the gym, swimming, on holiday, at the beach, at the shops, etc.

I do, of course, have insurance.

I wear my engagement ring most of the time.  The only times I take it off is when I shower, clean, go to the gym, or do anything dirty (yard work, etc.).

I wear it almost all the time. I take it off to shower, any real cleaning, and to sleep. I also don’t wear it when I’ll be in water. We live coastally and anytime we go to the beach or boating, I leave my ring at home.

peach11 :  i don’t wear my rings when i sleep, shower, go to the gym or when I’m on the ice or any workout, cooking, gardening, handling raw meat, cleaning my dogs or moving furniture. I also have ring dishes and jewelry boxes at home and I only put my rings in those, so that i know where they are all the time. However, my set also differers from yours where i have a pavé band and the small stones can loosen over time and you can loose them. I have insurance for that when it happens, but i would rather not have my ring in for multiple repairs or sizing as i heard that that can compromise the structural integrity of the ring…

on the other hand, my sister have a solitaire like yours and she never takes it off (actually she did with her first ring and she lost it and had to have it replaced, that’s probably why she never took her replacement ring off) and nothing had happened to hers. She literally does everything with her ring and it has been 15 years.

I only wear it when I leave the house. I generally take it off when I get home. I don’t wear any other jewelry either.

I’ve been engaged a little over a year now and the only time I take it off is when I know my hands are going to be really dirty and I don’t want anything getting in my ring. I probably should take it off more than I do but I just love it so much!

I don’t wear mine when sleeping, showering, cleaning, gardening, DIY or doing sport. I wear my wedding band alone for sport but not for the other listed activities.

I sometimes go out without them because I forget to put them on.

Just go what you’re comfortable with.
