I wear it running (it’s super sparkly in the sun or under pot lights!) but I definitely don’t wear it for weight lifting or swimming.

I had a thread about this recently–I bent my ring at the gym several weeks ago! It really is a disaster… at least my finger was not damaged.

I take my ring off before I go to the gym, for the safety of my finger and my ring. Even if you’re unlikely to damage it by knocking it on something, holding heavy weights in your hand will bend the metal over time. To avoid losing my ring, I have very strict rules about taking it off: if it’s not on my hand, it goes in its ring box in a drawer in my bedside table.

Nope – if my hand is cold, the rings will slip sideways (hate that against my finger) or fly off if I fling my arms out (I managed to do that petting the dog with very cold fingers, once).  If it gets hot from the workout it will swell and not come off.  I’d rather just take them off and not worry about it.  I also don’t go to a gym though, so no need to worry about misplacing them either.

kenz29:  I don’t usually wear my ring at home, and I never wear my ring when working out. I also don’t wear it when I’m doing vigorous outdoor activity like hiking or camping. Only the hiking/camping is out of fear of damaging it – the other times are just comfort preference. Plus, my workout of choice is martial arts, so not great to be wearing a big ring on my finger LOL.

My sister chipped her engagement ring (took a notch right of the white gold) weight-lifting with it on. Not a good idea!

I go to Bar class, I die of boredom at the gym. Everyone wears their rings. My friend came with me once and she joked that you needed at least 2cts before they’d let you in. Of course that’s not true, but it was pretty funny.

I wear my wedding band under lifting gloves, but usually not my e-ring.  I only wear it if I have nowhere to put it when I’m at the gym.

mrsblueeyes:  what material is it ? If it’s platinum it won’t wear off at all as it’s very hard wearing but yes if gold, the friction of the sheets can rub a littl away over time

kenz29:  Never. You can damage your finger – fingers swell when working out or you can cause too much pressure to the finger/ring area with weights.

You can also damage your ring from the weights and such.

I leave my ring at home, where no ring, or wear a Qalo ring. If you go with a Qalo for work outs you need to size up! My engagement ring is a 6.25, my Qalo is a 7.

Yes. Never take it off. Spin classes, running, weights, riding my horse. All fine.

If I’m just doing cardio or yoga, I wear my ring. If I’m going to be doing any type of weight-training, kickboxing, or TRX, I leave it at home.

Fiance and I both got soem QALO silicone rings to wear during activities where the traditional precious metal rings might be damaged or lost.  We are getting married at a resort, and know we’ll be in the water a lot, and he wanted a ring that would stay on better in those cases.  I don’t feel bad wearing mine to do Zumba, but yardwork or anything putting stress or weight on my hands I wear the silcone one.
