- Wedding: November 2013
So I finally made the four hour drive to check out the venue where we are planning on having our wedding (I know, weird to decide before seeing it, but I knew the view would be spectacular.
Anyway, I had originally settled on charcoal grey, and a light shade of peach/blush pink, with maybe a bit of darker blush. I was thinking that the flowers would be a subdued mix of white, ivory, blush, cream, etc. The venue is very modern and there is a lot of slate and beautiful wood, so I think it matches perfectly.
Everything was going as planned as we checked out the venue, until we got to the ballroom. Don’t get me wrong, it is a beautiful ballroom, and basically perfect for what I want in terms of style and colors…. EXCEPT the carpet. Again, it’s a very nice carpet, but it is stripes with shades of very bright teal and green mixed in with tan, brown, grey, and a bit of yellow. It matches the room, but I’m pretty sure teal and green are going totally clash with my bridesmaids’ blush dresses and the blush flowers everywhere.
I agonized over it for the four hour drive home, and started thinking that we are going to have to do blue-grey dresses instead, and just go with whites and creams and champagne colors for the flowers and kill the pinks completely, but a) I loved those pink dresses, and b) now my fiance thinks my colors are too monochromatic. I can’t fix the monochromatic issue because the venue is very modern, and while I like the modern look, it’s not very formal, in my opinion. It needs some classic, subdued elements to take it back down to WEDDING.
So basically, it’s this whole green carpet that’s throwing me off. If the whole room were a mismatch with my style, I think I could get over it. But becaues the colors are *so close*, it’s driving me crazy.
What do you think, bees? Should I change my colors, or am I just a crazy person?
FYI here is a picture of the ballroom. It was being done up for a reception this evening. The picture is unfortunately dim, though. The green and blue on the carpet are quite bright!
