@Sweet_Tea: We did, and we are just in the process of purchasing our first home. In the city we came from, we would not have been able to purchase a house for a very long time because real estate is SO expensive, however where we are now it is actually cheaper to buy than to rent (besides the added costs of maintenance/repairs) so we felt like it was just a smart investment rather than throwing our money away on renting.

Yes. Currently looking for one. Rent is OBSCENE over here-like double what a mortgage would be.

I feel the need to buy a home. I want to start a family and I will not do that as long as we live in something rented. I want the secuirty that we are settled and have a place we can make our own, that is super important to me. We have a down payment and I did some very basic calculations and renting a place the size we need and buying something is about the same, even with taxes and other utilities. It just not make sense to rent when we don’t have to.

It would be nice to have a house, but I am not ready to settle down. We move a lot, we are going to live abroad for a while and we travel a lot. So as of now, renting an apartment works very well for us. We are going to buy a house in a couple of years when we are ready to settle down and have kids. But not just yet.
