Mine has my full name and the tech’s first name I believe.

If you went to an elective/boutique place they might not put that info on.

BrideAddict92:  ooh, does this question have some soap opera drama behind it?? 😉  Like, some girl is claiming that she’s pregnant and it’s your SO’s? She showed you the scan and you’re questioning its legitimacy? Yeah? Lol! My imagination….

i work in med records, specializing in HIPAA compliance- baby’s recs will be commingled with mothers under mothers name (maybe mother AND baby, but always mother) until baby is actually born, at which point baby gets his/her own MRN and the file splits .

Since baby isn’t born yet, having mothers name on rec is NOT a hipaa violation. The baby has no legal name, SSN, or DOB yet, so couldn’t have their own chart – MUST be commingled,

hope that helps!! 🙂

sorry I midread the question – yes, it’s prolly the technicians name, or they could have filed the image under the wrong MRN, and if that (wrong MRN) was sent out, that WOULD be a violation.

so sorry!! It’s late, I’ll blame it on that lol

I’ve never had one with my name on it, just the name of the medical practice in the corner. And I’ve had like, 6 now.

Yes. Mine even had my SSN on them. Even the quick one they did at 16ws for sex had my info.

My dad and his Fiance had a daughter in early April, I was just looking at scan photos they sent me and they say my dads last name and the word baby, ie JONES BABY. No mention of my dad’s FI’s name.

BrideAddict92:  Mine did. I just hope the pics your friend got are actually her baby’s.

It would be a HIPPA violation if any other name besides the mother’s name or “baby” and mother’s last name is on the ultrasound.  The tech is supposed to clear the monitor or enter new information before the next patient even enters the room.

The topic ‘does an ultrasound baby scan always have the mother's name on it?’ is closed to new replies.
