Okay, soo, I’ve been following my cycle for a year+ now, ready to ttc in Sept/Oct. According to my ovulation planner app on my phone (which is really reliable, and I’ve even showed it to my nurse who agreed) I have a ‘fertile window’ which is around 5 days long. Now, on day 13, 14 and 15 of my cycle this month I’ve had some blood spotting which is mixed in with my ewcm. I also get one-sided twinges which feel a BIT like period pain, but in a different place. I went to see my nurse about the blood spotting and she said it’s caused by ovulation, and that some women do get it. I recently had a cervical screening test which was normal and my next isn’t due until 2016. I’m not concerned, as I think if it was anything serious the blood would be intermittent. It’s not – it just occurs around day 14 of my cycle. Does anybody else get this?!

I have on occasion, although I’m on the BCP so I’m not sure if my answer is relevant to you! A few times I’ve had small side cramps and a bit of blood in between periods.

Interesting- I’ve been paying more attention to these types of things lately and I noticed my “ewcm” will sometimes have the slightest brownish tinge to it. Sorry for the Too Much Information but good to know it’s normal!

Lilyrose, you have described my sitution. i have been getting what i think is oluvation bleeding for abour two years now. it last about one to two days. i too have seen my doctor and he said that it is oluvation bleeding too. i think my mum had it as well but it is hard to say because she had an iron problem. i don’t have an iron problem so i don’t understand why it has been occuring. i went off birth control about 5 years ago. my dh and i want to start ttc in the next few months so this has made me really worried. i joined this forum in hopes to find others like me and who have already conceieved. i haven’t seen or heard of anyone getting pregnant so i don’t know the impact it will have on my chances of getting pregnant.

I get it from time to time. As long as you aren’t bleeding heavy or anything, its normal. I find it nice becuase it lets me know I’m about to O. 🙂

Yes, i’m pretty sure i’m about to O when i get it too because it always during that window. plus it’s more spotting brownpinkish spotting and lasts only a couple of days. I have super regular cycles ( 24-26 day cycles) i like i said above we want get serious about ttc because we have been not trying not preventing for on and off for a year now. we never really try during my window so we will have to see what happens. I expect to get ovulation spotting at the end of week. I’m glad i’m not alone!

YES! I just went to the gyno a few weeks ago because I was worried about spotting… she knows I’ve been charting (to prevent) the last year, so she asked me which days it was happening, and then I realized… duh. It was ovulation spotting, she said it’s not a big deal. It’s been happening days 16-18 for me, but my cycle is usually 35ish days. I also get slight cramps on the side, but nothing as bad as my actual menstrual cramps.

Warning – this is a Too Much Information Post!!!
Well I’ve been charting for over a year now, and I get blood spotting at the same time EVERY SINGLE MONTH. And it is ALWAYS with the ewcm, in my ‘fertile days’ and generally when I feel the best about myself (all signs of ovulation). In the UK you don’t see a gyno unless you are referred to one specially, and my nurse didn’t do that. She just said it’s a sign of fertility, and not wo worry. (She also asked if I could have an infection but I don’t because 1. My Fiance is clean and 2. We use condoms anyway so she wasn’t worried about that, and neither was I.)
My blood spotting lasts up to 4 days, but it’s nothing like period blood. It’s basically bright red and streaky, mixed in with ewcm. I never get blood without ewcm, but I sometimes get ewcm without the blood. It comes on day 13 of my cycle and lasts to maybe day 16 or 17. And it’s intermittent – like not every single time I go to the toilet, maybe just once a dayI’m not sure exactly when I’m ovulating, but I figure it must be sometime around this as I get all the other usual ovulation signs.
Everything I’ve read (and I’ve read a LOT!!) has just said it’s a positive sign of ovulation. I can’t see why it would be a sign of infertility/that we’re going to have trouble ttc and I’m not sure why it would effect egg quality.. I’m interested to see if anyone has concieved who previously had blood spotting during ovulation though??
At the moment I am completely overanalyzing everything, looking for every little sign why I might be infertile *sigh* I hate waiting to ttc!!

I found this on another forum..
“According to the book Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler, a day or 2 light bleeding right around ovulation is normal. It is another fertitlity sign that can help us identify where we are in our cycle. Its usually the result of sudden drop of estrogen just before ovulation & tends to occur more often in long cycle.”
I don’t have a long cycle (28/29 days) but there seemed to be quite a few girls on this thread who had O bleeding and had gotten a BFP!

Thanks lilyrose for your reply! I have been trying to read up on this as well but i haven’t found any threads on BFP and ovulation spotting so it made me worry. I think i will try and keep a positive attitude that it is good sign of fertility! I hope we all get our bfps soon! baby dust to all.

@Lillyrose: Everything you have mentioned, I have on a monthly basis and it SUCKS! Its ALWAYS around ovulation during my fertile week and Darling Husband is completely skived off at the idea of BD while i’m bleeding. (He is fine when AF is here, but actually DTD during her visit is a no go.) My gyno also confirmed it was normal… it just makes it difficult for me to actually conceive when your hubby is like mine. smh.
