    @Weebagpuss:  6 mm for 1 ct is ideal, provided we are talking about round brilliant cut stones.  I am guessing then that 5.4 for a .6 is large (again, for a round brilliant), though I am not 100% sure (pricescope.com might be able to tell you).  Remember that “large” isn’t necessarily good – “good” depends on the light performance of the stone, which depends on the cut, and a shallow cut causing a larger “face-up” might impair light performance.  The very most important thing though is that you love how the stone looks!

    The mm to carat ratio thing only works if the diamond is near ideal cut. So if you have a .50 carat diamond that is more or less than 5mm in diameter, you know that they cut it poorly. Here’s a chart:

    @ferdie224:  Actually for a 1ct round, 6.5mm is average.
