Ok, random….. I’m wondering if anyone else ever wears their hair in a braid still. I’m not talking about the pretty, trendy side-swept-ish braid, but an “old fashioned” braid or “French” braid?
I have curly hair and when it mis-behaves, it doesn’t always work in a ponytail or a bun. Because of this, I often end up wearing my hair in a braid with a headband of some sort. But I never see ANYONE else wear their hair like this anymore. I do sorta feel like a five year old again when I wear my hair like that, but it’s manageable and keeps my hair out of my face.
Anyone else out there who still braids their hair?

My hair’s not quite long enough for a regular braid, but I still occasionally wear it in pigtail braids.

During the summer when it’s hot and humid and I am too lazy to blow dry my hair, I’ll french braid my hair and then twist the bottom part into a bun. I like the way it looks. I agree, I don’t really see many people doing it anymore. But I’ve gotten a lot of compliments about it.

Sometimes I slick my long hair back and braid it, my hair is curly too and unmanageable without product, so sometimes I braid it to give it a break.

I don’t have long enough hair for a regular braid, but I love to braid it in pigtail braids while its still wet & let it dry that way. I like the way my hair looks like when it’s braided.

If I don’t have time, or am too lazy to dry my hair if I shower in the morning I will often do two french braids joined into a bun. It’s tidy and doesn’t get my hair wet.
I’ve tried the braided headband but no matter how long my hair is, it never seems to work.

yes i do! My hair is not straight but not curly and tangles easily. basically it can be a big mess if i don’t blow dry it. So when i feel it getting to dry or damaged from all the heat i usually just let it air dry in a braid- the only way to keep it looking somewhat decent when air drying 😉
I think the braid is classic it just like everything else will come and go with in terms of being popular but i don’t think i have ever looked at someone with their hair in a braid and questioned it (as to looking bad, weird or out dated).

I do it when I want quick waves in my hair. I just braid it when it’s still damp after a shower, two hours later, pronto waves!

I do. Old-fashioned braids, the scandinavian style braid over the top of my head, pigtail braids, french braids, etc. I wear braids of different sorts in my hair all the time. My hair can be quite unruly, so the braids help keep it in check.

It’s funny you posted this now! I decided a week ago that I was going to learn how to braid my hair well on my own. The braids aren’t so pretty yet, but I like that it gives my hair volume without using products (it’s fine, straight, and thick), and gives me a little bit of a wave. It seems that braids are coming back into style, like skinny jeans. 🙂

all the time. i also have curly hair and when i’m having a bad hair day i’ll just braid it. keeps it out of my face and keeps me from obsessively running my fingers through it

I can’t wait until my hair is long enough to braid!!!

I have long hair and have since I was 3 or 4 I think, and probably since then if not sooner, I’ve braided my hair before bed. It’s something that’s become such a habit, I just can’t not. It’s usually nothing fancy, but I’m worried it’ll end up in a big knot if I don’t. And after so many years, it would be weird not to. 🙂

Thanks for sharing, ladies! I was seriously starting to wonder if I’m the only one who still does this! Glad I’m not 🙂

I braid it all the time. It is one of the only ways to keep it (my very long wavy hair) out of the way and not knotting, falling in things, getting damaged.
