mml624:  I had a BMW X3 in college and loved it. It was the perfect size for me – not too big that I had difficulty driving (hate driving big cars) but still big enough for me to cart my belongings the 5 hours to and from school every year. Also a safe car. Can’t speak for the others, but my ecperience with the x3 was positive.

You already have a vw so you may not agree with this. But my husband works as parts mngr at vw, mazda and subaru dealership. He said he would never buy a vw because of how much money they make off of them(unless it was under warranty the whole time). They make the most off vw at his dealership on repair and service because they are always needing something.

ChelseaGabrielle:  My husband was a service advisor for VW and told me never to buy one.  Said they’re junk.  Always breaking down.

I have and love the x3. Great, smooth drive and handling and good on gas. Surprisingly fits so much for a small suv. I’ve been able to fit my bike with the back seats down as well as bookcases in boxes (random). BMW maintenance is excellent if you buy the package, well worth it and cheaper in the long run. I tested a Mercedes and didn’t like the feel or snotty salesman. I used to have a VW Jetta and spent way too much on repairs.

I don’t know if you’ve looked at the RX 350 from lexus, but that is what I would get in a heartbeat!  My parents have both the X3 and the RX 350 and everyone LOVES the RX 350 hands down!

I have a Lexus RX… you would LOVE it. I have han RX450h, but it’s really just a souped up and hybrid version of the 350. It’s a 2010 and has never needed anything except oil changes and new tires every now and then, and I’ve heard the same from friends who own the 350. Best buy of my life.

My mother drives a VW Touareg and I love it. I find it very luxurious and appealing to the eye. It does cost a lot to maintain though.
