Does anyone else feel guilty for not enjoying pregnancy?

Oh  yes, I have definitely felt guilt over this.  I am 13 weeks today, carrying a little girl and have been very sick from about 4 weeks on.  There have been tearful moments when I have thought… why would anyone intentionally do this to themselves!?

I wanted this baby and I still very much want this baby but pregnancy has been far more difficult than I anticipated.  Then add in the anxiety about always worrying whether the baby is developing as she should, her heart still beating, etc.

I too have started to piece together a nursery on Pinterest which has drummed up some excitement. I am just praying for a healthy and safe pregnancy and baby.

I haaaated pregnancy. I always wanted children, but I wish I could skip the whole pregnancy and delivery bit!

I had a very long period of constant nausea, and watching drastic changes happening to my body practically overnight was really difficult for me. My entire pregnancy was a countdown, and I’d often feel discouraged by how far away my due date seemed (imagine the discouragement when I turned out being 2 weeks late!) I can never understand women who love being pregnant…I love my baby more than anything and she was definitely worth all the hardships, and I’m totally willing to go through it again for another child, but I don’t think I’ll ever “enjoy” the journey of pregnancy.

And I don’t think you have to enjoy it…it’s just temporary. I think it’s more important to enjoy parenthood. Best wishes!

Pregnancy isn’t all sunshine and rainbows despite how it’s often presented. It’s exhausting, uncomfortable and can be painful.

Focus on the positives – pregnancy is temporary and you’ll have a beautiful child at the end. Focus on things like preparing the nursery like you’re doing. Take joy in the tiny clothes you buy.

It took us 5 years to get this far so while I’m enjoying the idea of being pregnant and thankful everyday to get to experience this when I thought I may never…. I am most certainly NOT physically enjoying it.  There is nothing enjoyable about 24/7 hungry or gassyness, I can’t even tell anymore.  Eating makes me feel better for like 5 minutes, and then I just want to throw up or just end up dry heaving.  And sometimes I go through the motions even on an empty stomach and throw up water.  Nope, not enjoyable, but still thankful to go through it.

I’ve hated every second of being pregnant…I was throwing up the first 20 weeks and he’s been on my sciatic nerve the last 13 weeks. 50 more days, then never again!
