Anyone who is invited to the bachelorette must be invited to the wedding.  Random strangers should not be invited, since presumably they are not on the guest list.  Let the Maid/Matron of Honor know how rude it is seen to be if non-wedding guests are included in the bachelorette, and hopefully she will nip this in the bud.

I was under the impression that only people invited to the wedding should be at the bachelorette party.

but OP said that no one from her area is going to the wedding because its far away…? so i dont think that rule applies here

@PinkFlemingo:  i agree it seems weird to want to go to a bach party for a girl you dont know. my guess is the tag alongers are viewing it as a crazy drinking night v. your bach party, a night of crazy drinking. especially since you and your girls are just going out barhopping. if you had reservations or a specific activity associated with the party my guess is they would feel less comfortable joining in, because if they did it would be even more weird.

If your just bar hopping i think its no biggie. But if it was so a private party or something you had planned with just BMs then yess it would be.

Just because they aren’t going to the wedding doesn’t mean they are not invited.  You should not be inviting people to pre-wedding parties if they are not invited to the wedding.  It doesn’t matter if it is a small wedding, a Destination Wedding, or a 300 person event.  The rule remains.

OP, you are well within your rights to nicely tell people that you prefer it just be a small group of close friends.  Surely the tag-alongers can also plan their own crazy night, unrelated to your wedding.
