When I got my finger measured, I asked to go up 2 sizes. She said I was a J but I wanted a K instead. The J was just far too tight. I guess mine is a little loose, but no finger muffin top or anything. But with the J there definitely was – which is weird because I’ve got very skinny fingers – there’s hardly anything on them!

My ring, although loose, never falls off. It glides easily over my knuckle but doesn’t move up and down my finger on its own (it does slide a little bit).

Thing is, when it’s hot my finger gets slightly bigger (as everyones do) and I don’t know how I’d cope having one that was tight in the first place. My advice would be to try on different sizes and see the difference – you may want to get a bigger ring 🙂

Maybe if you went up a size and got those “speed bumps” they put in rings it would prevent that?

@TopazTurtle I believe they’re called sizing balls or sizing beads, and every jeweller should know what they are and be able to do it for you quite easily! It’s really odd that they didn’t.

@MrsSnowMountain:  +1.  I know the concept has been around a long time.

I asked one jeweler if I could get platinum ones added to palladium because using palladium is newer and I have heard that a lot of jewelers don’t work with them, and they said it would be no problem.

@TopazTurtle:  I am not trying to start anything… I’m just wondering how a letter system is more precise. It seems the precision should be the same regardless of if you label sizes with letters or numbers.

@TopazTurtle:  have you tried on anything a tiny bit bigger that has slipped off though? or are you just scared it would? because mine is loose and there is no way it would just slip off…

I think a lot of people wear their rings really tight. I’ve never had finger pudge, but my ring is not super tight. It wiggles around a fair amount, but it’s comfortable and secure.
