I am not a fan of Adele’s music BUT….

I can see she is incredibly talented, I LOVE her as a person, I think she is hilarious and so down to earth and I love how she keeps her son out of the press. She cracks me up every time I hear her being interviewed, but when I hear a song of hers, in my head I am saying, oh love, quit your whinging!

Not an Adele fan here but she does appear to be a very lovely person and her talent is insane. I had a little laugh at some of you who said otherwise. Bitter much? 25 is the fastest selling album in the first week of release ever.

“Hello” is about herself. Even she cringes when she looks back at the songs she wrote about her past relationships. This album is for her.

MeandMyLouboutins:  What is this issue with someone not liking Adele’s voice?

Is it good for pop music – probably.  But I do not listen to that.  Ever.

Which means I judge on what I listen to.  Damn my family, but too much opera training and my years overseas, I’m too used to different music with a lot of vocal power. Which Adele can’t come near.  She’s got vocal training, but nothing on the power in her voice.  Either a lack of training or – more likely – she just doesn’t have any power. She’s got a fairly limited vocal range, and doesn’t use it well.  So I am not impressed by her music, because there’s nothing impressive to me.

I maintain that if you want some impressive female vocals, give Floor Jansen a try.   Was After Forever, now Star One, ReVamp and Nightwish as of Showtime, Storytime release since I’m not 100% on when she joined the tour other than some point in 2012.

greaselightning:  I haven’t heard it but everything about her from her voice, her looks, the angst and anger in her songs I have heard repulse me! Her songs are so boring and repetitive yet still manage to devolve into yelling much of the time.. I can’t take it. I like artists with depth who can produce songs that at the very least sound unique from one another.

I never said you can’t dislike her voice, I said to deny she has talent is a different story. You can appreciate someones talent without necessarily liking their genre of music.

I dislike many genres of music and singers but I can appreciate the talent they bring to the table. You don’t need to bash someone because you don’t necessarily appreciate the music they create.

MeandMyLouboutins:

Yes, I dislike pop.  Thus, I don’t have a pop music standard to base anything on.

But if I base Adele vs what I listen to and have training in – I don’t hear any talent. I hear a badly pitched mezzo with a very limited range.  Thus, I’m not impressed.  And I can’t get over how grating her voice is to go further.  I’ve read some lyrics and don’t like them much either.

Her talent is marketing.

hyphenornot:  Huh!? You obv have an issue with Adele. She isn’t even a pop artist so I’m not sure why you have to listen to pop music to compare her to anything.. She’s more adult comtemporary. Either way I’m not here to convince anyone to like her – My point is even if you don’t like her you don’t need to bash her to prove your point. Different strokes for different folks!

I’m so sick of seeing and hearing her everywhere just like last time she was on the scene. She’s so overrated.

Pro tip: if you think that Adele is spending too much time milking songs about that one guy, never EVER turn on Alanis Morissette!

hyphenornot:  see, I always felt like she was super overwrought in Nightwish… So there’s that.

I loved (love) Adele. I loved her other albums. However Hello has completely turned me off. Every time I hear it I just think “move on, get over him”… I haven’t heard the rest of the album yet but I don’t feel like I want to.

I love Adele and I think she has a beautiful voice, but I absolutely can’t stand “Hello”.  I think it’s such a boring song, and I don’t understand all the fuss!  The melody is boring, the chord progression is boring, and the lyrics are boring.  I haven’t felt the need to listen to the rest of the album based off of my dislike for “Hello” lol.

greaselightning:  I’m not really a fan of Adele, in fact, some of her really overplayed songs drive me nuts. But, I have to say, I have a soft spot for her, simply because she has managed to stay out of the spotlight and out of drama and live a normal-ish life. She’s gorgeous now, but she didn’t start out that way, and she still managed to hold her own and climb to the top of the charts. I actually like “Hello” over her other songs… Maybe it’s just not overplayed yet.

babeba:  I don’t think Alanis made 3 albums on Dave Coulier! Just one…lol
