I am 30 but I look like early twenties and even sometimes people think I am in high school. I hate it because I feel like it’s because I don’t know how to dress like an adult. I wear jeans mostly and sweatshirts because I don’t know what else to wear.
I went to mother’s day brunch back in May and my future sister in law was there (who of course is skinny and pretty) and she was wearing this nicely tailored black dress…and then I was in a pink dress. I thought it looked okay but then in pictures I looked awful and young.
So since I am fat and ugly and have no boobs, I don’t know how to wear clothing that makes me look older. And I am terrified that I will look horrible in wedding pictures because I am so unphotogenic. I just want to look like a refined adult and I don’t know how to do that with my body type. I can’t change my youthful looking face of course but I thought maybe if i knew what to wear it would help…?

This is awesome that you look young! I am turning 36 in September and I look 10 years yonger 🙂
As for dressing age appropriate, have you considered consulting a personal stylist? They won’t charge a lot for a first consultation and could be of great help. Also, pay attention to how they put an outif together on the maneqens in the windows of shops.
cheers to looking young! 🙂

I am not the size of a mannequin so I can’t wear what they wear. I am 5’2″ and 125 pounds, so I am basically obese for my height. I have no neck, and fat arms, and ugly legs. The tailored dresses that adult women wear make me look like a sausage.

5’2″ and 125lbs is NOT obese, are you crazy? I’m 5’3″ & 120lbs.. so we’re basically the same. We are not obese by any means!
I have a young looking face too.. I’m 27 and most people think I’m 22-23.. I guess we’ll enjoy our young looking faces when we’re 50.

Start with your shoes – I’m serious. When I wear nice flats or boots instead of toms or flipflops, I look more mature and I’m treated that way too! I don’t have to dress well for work or anything (I wear sweatpants) so usually the ret of the time I think that jeans and a hoodie is dressed up. When I swap out my shoes and wear a cardigan instead of a hoodie, it does wonders. I’m 26, but I get asked which high school I’m graduating from on a weekly basis.

Blah I got carded for buying a lottery ticket the other day!
AND I was running a program with a local college and high school for my job and one of their professors asked me which high school I was with! I was dressed in high heels and a suit. I was seriously offended as all the students were dressed in t shirts.
Oh and I’m 27.

Oh and 125lbs is not obese! I weigh 115 and I’m a size 0 (I’m shorter than you are too).

I’m 24 and get told I look at least 18/19.
ETA: When I was 21 – people thought I was 16.

I’m going to be twenty-three in a couple of weeks, but most people apparanly seem think that I’m somewhere between fifteen and seventeen. (I know this, because I am constantly being asked if the local high school has a day off whenever I’m out and about during school hours. It’s seriously annoying!) Anyway – people tell me I’ll appreciate it when I’m older, so at least I’ve got that to look forward to!

Me! I will be 25 in a few months and always get told I look 18. Also, whenever I am with my younger sister(who is 19) I’m also always asked if I’m the younger one. It irritates me but atleast I’ll look younger when I’m older.

Oh honey, 125 pounds at 5’2″ is FAR from obese. I am 4’11” and weighed 130 at my heaviest. Although I would say I was a little chubby then, I definitely did not consider myself obese!!! You are being WAY WAY too hard on yourself.
FWIW, I am 26 and when Fiance and I went in for his tux consultation the guy was convinced we were there for prom. o.O

I get that I look way younger than I am. i’m 26. My husband and I are expecting a baby and we both look really young (he is 27). I can’t wait to see what kind of reactions we get out in public haha.
a few years ago I was looking at houses to rent with my sister and the lady showing us was like, shouldn’t you be in school? doesnt highschool get out at like 3? I was like why yes they do but i’ve been out of highschool for almost 6 years! haha.

I dont think I look young but I got carded when buying cigarettes the other day and get carded regularly at the liquor store. And normally I would say they are just enforcing rules straight across the board to be safe but I have friends who will go in with me and they dont get carded 🙂 so I like to think its because they are actually questioning whether im old enough. I can dream right? lol I think it happens mostly when I am in a hoodie, with my hair in a messy bun and a headband on in sweats and flip flops. I think it confuses them more than when im in my heels with my face on and my hair all fixed up. But I always get excited when they ask for my ID. The one cashier even said “well don’t I feel silly now, you are like a whole decade older than an 18 year old”….well thanks for the reminder kid!

@JlovesM: My ‘little’ sister is seventeen and a junior in high school. She’s 5’10 and looks to be at least nineteen or twenty – where as I’m only 5’3 and look to be around sixteen or seventeen, and so people always assuming that I’m the younger one too. It doesn’t bother me so much anymore … but when I’d just graduated high school and I had people asking me how I was liking sixth grade I used to get really, really pissed off.
