I recently turned 24 and most people think i’m in HS. I was laying by the pool in my apartment complex and i got this hs kid come up to me asking if i knew his friends and what school i went to. He really didn’t understand when i told him i don’t go to school (he looked all confused like oh you dropped out) NOO i’m 24, a college graduate and working fulltime. ….  Then a few months ago i got carded at the movie theater….me and my friend were at the bar and got carded twice cus the manager asked the bartendar to double check our ID’s we heard him tell her “those girls aren’t 21” yea actually we  are thanksss..

I hate it. I really need to start wearing make up i guess. I’m usually in jeans and a tshirt hair down and no make up. If i wear powder to cover up my zits and eyeliner then something must be going on that i feel the need to dress up. LoL

I’m 21 myself and I get that I’m 12 all the time. The gas company came to my house once and asked if my parents were home. THe chick wasn’t much older than myself and when I told her no this was my house she was totally shocked. Now that I have braces I definitely look younger than I am. I figure down the road when I’m older I won’t look my age then either. I see it as a plus. This is me taken back in March.

5’3 and 125 lbs is not obese! I’m that height and weight and I wear a size 2. People are surprised when I say I’m 125lbs since they all think I’m 105-110lbs. Embrace that you look young! You’ll love it as you age. I’m 30 and get mistaken for 18-21 years old all time even though I dress in professional tailored clothes. Its hard with my profession since I’m a clinical pharmacist so it’s harder serious to convince doctors I’m an actual pharmacist and not a student or intern

PEACHACID, SHUT UP YOU ARE NOT OBESE. I’m 5’1″ and 120! You also have some nice muscle tone that I am very jealous of.

I’m 26 going on 27 and get mistaken for at least 5 years younger all the time, which is weird, since when I was young, I got mistaken for older.

I’m 28 and today I actually had someone in my office building ask me if I was 20.  But I will appreciate it when I’m 50, as others have said.

In terms of how to dress, I think I am similar in size/shape perhaps.

I’m 5’4 and 125lbs.  I am pear-shaped (small boobs, big hips), so I wear dresses and shirts that cinch my waist.  I find that it’s the most flattering with me and I hardly ever wear tank tops/sleevless shirts & dresses because I don’t like how my arms look.

I get my jeans from American Rag and can’t wear anything low-cut because it won’t cover my butt, haha.

I recommend that you try on clothes that you would never even consider and you might surprise yourself 🙂  Keep your head up!

im 23 and my Fiance is 26 and we ALWAYS get carded EVERYWHERE and we both have had 15 and 16 year olds hit on us lol. People always assume we are 16ish and they think our daughter is actually our sister she’s 2 and i guess it doesnt help that she doesnt call us mom or dad she call us by our names.

5’2″ and 125lbs is not obsese at all, in fact you’re in the healthy range. I’m 5’0″ and weigh about 140lbs and I’m considered overweight.

But if it bothers you, maybe try some strength training. What shape is your body? They have different dresses that suit different body shapes. Personally I love wearing cardigans. Also, lines and patterns can help create an illusion of a bigger bust, smaller waist, etc.

I’m in my early 20’s and people think I’m about 15 or 16 which is funny to me because I have a very large bust. From what I remember, 15 and 16 year olds usually didn’t wear a 32G/30H bra…lol

I heard hair colour helps w/ age appearance too. I’m a very light blonde and have been told if I dyed my hair a dark brown that I would look a couple years older. Maybe you could try that if you’re feeling adventurous? Finding a really nice hair colour and pampering yourself may help you feel more confident too.

I am 25 and sometimes get told that I look like I am in high school. It used to bother me, but I like it now I am starting to get older. I don’t get carded now on occasion and start to wonder if I am starting to look old lol! If anything take it as a compliment, it means you will probably age very well.

Also 125 for 5’2” is not even close to obese! That is a good size and in the healthy weight range. I am barely 5’1” and was around that weight for a long time.

For advice on what to wear to look older: cardigans, khaki skirts, black + white outfit combos, pearl necklaces, pump heels. Think J Crew and Ann Taylor style! Avoid shopping in the childrens section. I know this may be tempting as a petite person, but don’t do it lol!

@DDbirdofparadise:  I agree with this! Layering always looks very nice and put together. I got teased at my old job a lot because of the way I dressed–we had no dress code, so I just wore what I normally wore (jeans, sweater/cardigan, scarf, boots or flats). Everyone else wore hoodies and sweats (which I don’t wear out of the house).

I will be 21 in 3 months and fiancé turned 21 in May. I am relatively small framed and apparently look 12 years old. He is over 6′ tall with a very athletic build and facial hair. People usually assume that I am his younger sister. My doctor actually used the phrase “You’re still young. You’re 14, right?” After I corrected him he was so shocked and actually went to check my chart. One woman even asked my mom why she would let her pre-teen daughter date a man in his late 20s. We can hardly go on a date without getting crazy looks.

Despite my many wardrobe changes and updates, I always look like a kid. Oh well.

I’m 28 and people regularly think I am 20-22. When I am in high schools for my observation hours, I am often mistaken for a student.

I’m currently 21. When I was 20 I was hanging out with a friend at the mall about a year ago, we were chatting and her coworker asked how I got to the mall…. I said “Um, I drove?” and he said, “You can drive? You look 15!”

This last semester I had several incidents where random small talk with strangers where I mentioned my final exams, and they all made comments about high school… um, actually I’m in my third year of college. But everyone says I look 16!

I’m a young bride anyway, but it’s so funny when people who don’t know my age find out I’m getting married, since I barely look old enough to drive 😛

Part of my problem is that aside from having a young face, I don’t really wear makeup, which makes me look even younger. The funny thing is, I have a pretty curvy figure (and by the way, 5’2″ and 125 sounds like a pretty good size to me, I’m jealous!) which doesn’t look 15 or 16 at all… so I guess it’s good that people pay more attention to my face than my chest? lol.

ETA: Forgot to mention, Fiance is 23 but with facial hair easily looks like he’s in his 30s. I can’t imagine what people think when they see us together, lol. Anyone else’s SO look way older too?
