@cherryblossomlove: i love your dress, like alot! i mean this as a huge complement, but i have seen your pics before too and they remind me of Fleur’s dress from HP!  love it.  not even close to looking cheap!  i also tried on a bunch of dresses at DB and came close to getting one, but there was always something i didn’t like so i kept looking….and ended up with a maggie!

@cherryblossomlove: Your pic didn’t come through but I’m sure its gorgeous! I tried on a bunch of dresses from DB. I would have probably purchased one if I liked the company (bad experience years ago, had nothing to do with the dresses but rather the staff). My dress is an Alfred Angelo so it’s basically the same thing. I personally don’t think that my dress looks cheap either. I guess some people may but I don’t really give a shit about them, lol. 🙂
ETA: Oh, earlier! Duh! Your dress is gorgeous and you’re right, definitely doesn’t look cheap. 🙂

I guess it depends on what one’s definition of ‘cheap’ is.  This is by far the most expensive item I’ve ever worn, and the cost of wear per hour is astronomical.  I balk at spending this much on a handbag I carry for years, yet something I’ll wear for 8 hours in my entire life is fair game.   lolwut?

Thanks ladies:)) What is HP?? Sorry. @CaitMarae,how in the heck are you a size 24? I know in wedding dresses they say you are a bigger size but I am a size 5 in jeans and 2 in dresses… I am not a size 0/3 and never have been. Thanks to kids and my momma’s hips lol!

@KristenGotMarried: very true. I think mine was a great price but would never spend that on one thing again!

@KristenGotMarried: I agree. As it is for most women, and some are just too name brand/designer happy to appreciate anything else. Unless you actually TELL someone, not many people could guess the cost of your dress.

@KristenGotMarried:  i know, i try not to think about it as “a piece of clothing i am only wearing once” because seriously when i go shopping, spending $50 on a top is a splurge for me. i prefer to think of the dress as “part of wedding costs” and you lump it in witht the overall budget.  like photography or venue, lol.

and speaking of “cost per hour”  (and to get more off topic!), i started this thread a while back about that, pretty interesting

@KristenGotMarried: I had unrealistic expectations of finding my dream dress for under $350 (wanted to spend $500 total including alt) but soon realized that it was never going to happen. I ended up choosing a $900 Alfred Angelo dress that I absolutely adore but that stresses me out everytime I think about it. I know $900 isn’t a lot to some people but it’s a lot to me considering how long I’ll actually be able to wear it for. Just wait, I’m totally going to be one of those fruit loops who wears her dress around the house afterwards.

well this thread sure has heated up.  i agree that i didn’t like the “low-end” comment either…that’s kind of below the belt.  sorry, not everyone has $3K+ to drop on a dress they’ll only wear once.  and contrary to popular belief, you’re not paying for quality with all that money, you’re paying for a name.  that’s it.  they’re (for the most part) all made in the same chinese factories.

knocking the OP for not being engaged yet isn’t right either though.  sure, posting this thread the way she did, it was destined for flames…call her out on that.  but there are more than a few “waiting” bees (myself included) that are all BUT engaged pretty much.  Fiance and i have set a date, we’ve both bought our rings, we’re dress shopping and thinking about colors and venues and flowers and food…we’re just waiting for the *right* moment to make it official.  (it has more than a little to do with optimizing the balance between waiting as little as possible and minimizing skepticism from my family.)  everyone has their own timeline and reasons for it.

Did I personally want a corset back?  No.  Do I see tons of girls and bees rocking their dresses and looking amazing that include corset backs?  Yes.  There is a lot of stuff I know is not my taste however is right for the right person and I usually like how they look in it.

Also, I spent a lot on my dress but have seen tons and tons of threads of people who got great deals on high end or not high end and what really matters is look and fit at the end of the day.  Also, I am usually envious of their good deals!

Just my two cents.

@cherryblossomlove:  lol, i wouldn’t say so. i read the book and watched the movies and love it!  and i loved the wedding dress. i mean your dress doesn’t actually look like hers at all, just that she had black lace on it, so it made me think of it (because i don’t often see black lace on wedding dresses and i always think it looks cool!)
