We’ll be renting for a few years until we come back from England. It would be a waste for us to buy a house there.

We rent a 5 bedroom house with 4 of FI’s friends. I cannot wait to get out of here and into our own little apartment!

Seeing as Fiance and I live in NYC, we rent. We’ve been in our current 1br apartment for 2 years (about to sign our lease for year 3).

We could buy, but we don’t know how long we are going to be in NYC (especially with FI’s new opportunity in London) so we are putting that on hold for now.

NYC is so expensive, to get what we wanted in an apartment we’d be looking at $700K plus for a 1 bedroom.

We rented for 3 years in New York and 1.5 years in the Boston ‘burbs before we bought, but as of 1.5 months ago we are no longer renting.  We are babies in the world of ownership.

If we We had roommates the first year of living together and I can still remember vividly how it felt to move into our own 1-bedroom; congrats! It is a big deal!

We rent. We’ve lived in the same apartment for 4.5 years, and the landlord (knock on wood) has never once raised the rent.  I love it. There’s things about it I don’t love, but I am very attached to it at this point.  Hopefully we’ll be able to buy someday, but right now we are nowhere close.

    We own a 5 bedroom.

I don’t see a problem with renting…buying isn’t always what is best for the couple, which is important: to do what is best for you, not your neighbor and uncle larry.

I know someone who just put their house on the market so they can go back to renting.  Home Ownership just isn’t what is best for them.  They want to reduce their load with the size, taking care of everything and the distance they are from everyone.

We’ve lived in the same apartment for 2 years. FH is kind of anti-buying a house which sucks but we don’t have enough for a down payment anyway so I guess it doesn’t matter.

@Miss.Lace: Same with us. We’ll buy it from them eventually. Once we can save up some money. 3 bed, 3 bath.

We rent a 3 bedroom/2 bath apartment. We’re definitely moving out in July though, whether that’s to a rental house or buying a house.

We rent! It’s a 2 bedroom home – not big enough for us. I want to purchase a house soon – hubby – not so much on the purchase train yet! LOL

I moved from a 4 bedroom 3 bath house to a 1 bedroom apartment. This works for us, for now. At the moment the housing market sucks, so it isn’t really financially feasible to sell my house, so I am doing a rent to own thing with my sister, where she is basically paying the house payment and I am turning the deed over to her. So I’m not making any money, but I’m not loosing any money on that deal either. I moved into my FIs one bedroom apartment, and we will probably stay here until after the wedding. It’s cheap and it lets us save money for a down payment on a house and since we are paying for our wedding ourselves, its the smart thing to do.
