Anyone else freaking out about the prices of Mantilla Veils? I thought finding the dress was going to be hard but it was so easy compared to this. I just can’t justify spending half of what I spent on my dress on a veil. I just hope I can find something, I really love the idea of having a Mantilla.

i agree, veils are crazy expensive. and i know some people will say that it’s not worth it when you wear it for such a short time, but for me it’s the most important part of the wedding. and pictures last forever. i think it’s worth it.

I agree, I just have this idea of what I want to look like and it includes this particular veil. I just wish they were cheaper and that I hadn’t picked such a hard lace to match.

What makes it so expensive is the lace (not the mantilla per se!). In fact, most mantillas are made of the same fabric all other veils are made (that is bridal illusion). I think mantillas are a great way to finishing up a glamorous look…. so don’t worry what people say…. it’s better to have a mantilla than one of those puffy merengues over your head… that is if you want to look chic.

I can only imagine wanting to pull your hair out, but then what would you attach your veil too. lol… try this… http://www.whitedovebridal.com/Files/mariell_veils_3.htm it is one of the most reasonable prices i’ve seen for Mantilla veils (this site has others too, but this was the prettiest example i could find). Good Luck!

I was shocked by how exy they are… but i think MrsDG has a tutorial somewhere on how to make your veil and one of the bee’s wore it for her wedding and to be honest, it was very much like a mantilla by memory… off to look for it
edit: to my uneducated veil eye it looks similar, what do you think? http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/10/21/dg-veil-tutorial/

I sat them in the stores anywhere from $400 to $1000 but I found an excellent lady who’s going to make mine for $80-$200, depending on my choice of lace!

My favorite thing about veil shopping is that most places fail to put prices on them. I tried on a couple of veil and there were 3 that I loved different parts so they told me I could create one with my favorite part of all three and then I found out that I had to pay the price of all three!

I’m right there with you! I’m planning on taking a stab at DIY on this one–I’ll post it if it doesn’t end up a giant FAIL.

YES!!!!!!! they almost drove me insane. then it was time for monique lhuillier’s sample sale! got mine for $200, instead of $1100. i was so happy! although it was in diamond white (and my dress is antique ivory), i just had the tulle replaced and had the lace put in the new ivory veil. i know it seems like it wasn’t worth it, but the lace was absolutely fabulous

@Msqthoney – Do you mind sharing a pic of your veil? I’m trying to pick a lace for my mantilla and looking for inspirations.

So, I LOVE Mantilla veils, but I am dreading to hear what the price will be for a Mantilla designed by Pnina Tornai to match the lace on my dress. It might be enough to get me to go for another type of veil, as much as I think it would be PERFECT with my dress. sadface.
Edit: okay, holy crap, I just found this: http://www.instyleweddings.com/weddings/cp/general/photos/0,,20181881_20179080_20410975,00.html
That isn’t a Mantilla, but it shows that her veils run around $8500!!!!???? NO WAY. Bye-bye, Mantilla veil.
