I did originally, we got married in a hurry so we didnt have the time or budget to get a diamond band.  I wore it this way for a year.  Hope it helps.

@moderndaisy:  I chose a simple wedding band. It’s 2mm white gold.

Hmm, I wouldn’t describe my engagement ring as “blingy” per se (that was a concept I wanted to studiously avoid) but it does have accent melee diamonds as well as the feature diamond, but the wedding band will be solid precious metal.

I find that a precious metal wedding band will complement it the best… I don’t like “cluttered” looks, which any more diamonds would look like with my engagement ring. It would also look “too flashy,” “trying too hard” etc. to me if I put any more diamonds. (on that finger, that is… ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Precious metal is an understated, elegant look and is the most traditional and classic for a wedding band. I love how it just screams “marriage” to me.

Don’t have pics, but I absolutely love my plain 3mm wedding band. It def makes the Engagement Ring pop!

@joya_aspera:  I love that look too. Right now I am sitting here just with my 2mm white gold band and it’s screaming married (which I am lol).  I do, however, love the stacked look which, because I am tall with long fingers, suits my hand. By adding in my anniversary band and eternity ring alongside my wedding ring AND ering I think I have satified my stacked look urge. I’m hoping it doesn’t look like I am trying too hard!

But I do agree, there is something quite elegant about pairing a plain metal band with an ering.

I have a diamond engagement ring and plain band.  I tried it on with diamond bands and I didn’t really like the way it looked/felt.  I like that you can easily distinguish the two rings from each other, and each looks good by itself.

I’m liking these looks!! Beautiful sets ladies!

I also didn’t want something too flashy with an exaggerated amount of diamonds all over. I wanted to see metal! I wanted the wedding band to stand out from the set and not blend in.

I did plain shank with diamond band. I have traded the diamond band in for something with a contour and with smaller stones. Should look classier ๐Ÿ™‚

What I like about blingy e-ring with plain band is that they are both defined very well. If a plain shank e-ring is right next to a diamond band…it sometimes seems as though the center diamond should belong to the diamond band, and it looks off-center, if you know what I mean. Some sets look like that to me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Scintillante:  Hi NikkyS!

I guess the rings will have to be separated – are you going to have to solder the new one or will the contour be up close without a gap? I can’t wait to see it – as you know I love the look you already have, so I can just imagine it’s going to be even more beautiful! Smile

@womanofsubstance:  Thank you so much! I still want a gap because I just love them. I want the contour ring to hug the center basket but not go right around it.

I’m going for something like this:

Btw, the unsoldering went really well and was done with just a little distortion on my engagement ring basket. It doesn’t matter since I’ll be soldering my custom band anyway. Rings spin on my fingers and I prefer not having metal hitting each other constantly, wearing each other out. I have had other rings unsoldered with nothing showing where they were soldered. I think the jeweler’s skills comes into practice here ๐Ÿ˜‰

My mom wanted me to get a diamong eternity band that matched my engagement ring, but I really wanted a wedding band that matched my husbad, so we both got yellow gold low dome bands in different widths.  I say that maybe for a future anniversary he can get me the infinity band ๐Ÿ™‚

@Scintillante:  Excellent!! I love the look of this contour band against your ering. I am also happy to hear they can be successfully taken apart. I bet you are counting the days until you get it! Good choice.

ETA: I’m also happy that you are still going to rock a gap! Yay!

@PetraArkanian:  I just have to say that you have the same date as me and almost exactly the same engagement ring! I am also thinking about a plain band vs. one that matches and I’m glad to see it on you because it looks great!
