hssweethearts2013 :  I adore coloured diamonds.  I have a black diamond solitaire and a vintage pink diamond ring. The black diamond doesn’t sparkle, it has a great “wet” shine. The pink diamond does sparkle.

I was totally set on a yellow (pale yellow) diamond for a long time. I had the idea of setting it in yellow gold. The effect would be beautiful but I changed my mind (now I am getting a colourless pear!)

They dont seem to sparkle quite as much as colourless diamonds, partly because they are often cut deep to enhance color which can effect light return. I found it challenging to find what I want just because they are more rare….I also felt like this was the time for me to get a colourless diamond, I know that sounds ‘shallow” but I felt like people wouldnt know it was a diamond and I really did not want to have to explain it to everyone who asks. There is no other time in my life I could see myself getting a colourless solitaire (I know you CAN, but to me, it would be weird to get that and wear, what, as a RHR? I have a pink sapphire RHR already). Also, sometimes I would see yellows in person and as very underwhelmed. It might also have to do with the fact that they probably faced up smaller due to being cut deeper…it just felt like I was having to throw a lot of money into the ring to get the look I wanted. Now that I have decided on a pear, I am happy- it is unique but still classic, which is something I was going for. The shape also suits my fingers nicely. Once I saw them I never hemmed and hawed- I knew it was for me. I was never set on yellow which I think was a sign it wasn’t right for me.

I am still toying with the idea of getting a yellow diamond wedding band though!

I love the durability of diamonds, but I wanted a stone with color. My Fiance and I chose a lovely rustic grey diamond! It has lots of inclusions, and has a personality all it’s own. Because of the cut and color, it dosen’t sparkle, but flashes light from its facets. Different, but still lovely and beautiful!

I don’t regret getting a colored and a non-traditional ring. It has a uniqueness that symbolizes our relationship perfectly! You should get a ring you love, colored, clear, unique or traditional! Let us know what you end up choosing!

Most fancy coloured diamonds are cut to intensify their colour, not to sparkle. I’ve been looking at the brian gavin cape line, which is warmer diamonds that have a yellow hue. They aren’t fancy yellow, but are still quite tinted and since they are ideally cut they sparkle like crazy! Even JA has some warmer diamonds, some with a brown or grey tint too which is really pretty.

Hi! New here ๐Ÿ™‚

First of all, beautiful rings, ladies!!

I just received my e ring last weekend and I’m completely obsessed with it. It’s a 1.10 carat grey pear shaped diamond with salt and pepper inclusions. I feel that for my personal style and taste, I can never see myself myself growing tired of it. Couldn’t imagine myself with a colorless diamond after sporting this baby. Since it’s a rose cut, it does reflect the light quite beautifully and throw a sparkle here and there, but obviously not as much as a diamond with more transparency in a more common cut would.

We went through JEWELluxe on Etsy and I couldn’t recommend her enough. Great quality pieces and great prices too. Jan (owner) and her team are amazing and worked with me to custom design the ring of my dreams ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a yellow diamond…..this is my anniversary ring, not my original e-ring.  I have wanted a yellow diamond for over 10 years and my husband finally caved and let me get one.  I adore it!  It is not considered “fancy” yellow, because it’s not far enough down the color grade…..but I didnt want a bright yellow, I wanted a more pale color.  I think it’s beautiful and unique and I totally love it.

I love my champagne diamond and it sparkles just as much as white ones do! That’s what I love most about it ๐Ÿ™‚
