I have a small diamond MAINLY due to budget constraints

I have a small diamond MAINLY because I prefer small diamonds

I went with moissanite MAINLY for a bigger size than I could otherwise afford

I went with moisssanite MAINLY for ethical concerns

(hope that’s a good size. πŸ™‚ First time uploading an image and first time sharing my ring.)

I have a 6mm blue moissanite. My finger is a 6.5 for reference.

My DH didn’t care what I wanted to get, as long as it was what I wanted. πŸ™‚ I debated forever between the 6.5mm and the 6mm and eventually decided to go with the smaller of the two sizes. I wanted to keep the ring cost lower and have a dainty, believable size stone. We may upgrade years and years on down the line, but I love what I have.

@NightOwlie:  Yours is a great blue colour! Do you find it stays fairly blue in most lighting conditions?

They stopped making the blue “regularly” so they are hard to get now (C&C is going to be doing their own color coating though so maybe they will make some blue since it is so popular).

Last month I almost bought an 8mm blue round moissanite a lady on BTD was selling, but I had already put plans in motion for a new ring project and did not have the cash laying around to put it aside for “down the road” (as a RHR, etc).  I am sort of regretting it looking at your stone!

@RayKay:  Thank you. πŸ™‚ I had a fight with myself for the longest time when MoissaniteCo re-released their blues. I’d been stalking it to the point of where I knew I would not rest until I had one.

It stays blue all the time. In certain lights the blue is much lighter, like the water of a Caribbean beach. Other times it looks darker like the Pacific. It does show a little blue-green sometimes, but it is still overwhelmingly blue.

    Mine just came! It’s a .75 unenhanced center stone (wed480 or eng867).

I have a .5 carat Asha, which to me is similar to getting a Moissy. I just liked the look of the Asha better since the setting we already had was a diamond setting (halo.) I think it looks fabulous. I’m not a “huge rock” kind of girl, but I am sort of blingy, hence the halo.

@NightOwlie:  Thanks NightOwlie, it truly is gorgeous. The heart wants what it wants, I know that feeling very well, so I am glad you got it after all that stalking!

I went with a 1.25 carat moissanite. I like the sparkle and color more than diamond. But I also have a size 7.25 finger, so small sizes just don’t give me the presence I want in any stone. I also went with a halo. I just like a very prominent ring style I guess, I’m not a small stone/solitaire girl, diamond or not.

If I were a size 6 or smaller, I’d have definitely gotten a 1ct or lower stone!

I’ve actually found that it is hard to find super tiny moissanites. Maybe ince they’re grown in the lab the seed has to start at a particular size? I also noticed that the smaller moissanites aren’t necessarily significantly cheaper.  I have a .75! =)

I originally wanted a moissanite in the 0.8-0.9ct range just under a carat. When I tried on rings with that size centre stone they looked so tiny on my hand, I just didn’t like the look of it. Even with halos and all of that, it just didn’t give me the coverage I was looking for. So I used to be in both categories before the engagement πŸ™‚

I have a 1ct moissy, because that is what I wanted. Fiance planned on getting me a 1.5ct, but that is just tooo big. My ring looks big on my hand as it is. If I were to do it again, I think i might consider a .75 ct, but I love my ring, and wouldn’t change it for anything.
