It looks like Charles and Colvard might be making some form of enhanced moissy that will soon be available in pear:

Does anyone know anything about this “Forever Brilliant” treatment process? It claims it’s different from the HTHP process used by the BTD/Moissanite Co folks. And they’re going to be making it in all the fancy cuts as well.

Edit: According to the BTD peoples, it’s just a coating. Boo. Ah well. I’m fine with the regular moissy.

@booEXcore:  What size were you looking into? In general, the bigger the more color you’ll see. I’m not sure what C&C’s return policy is, but if they stand by their product and offer a return policy, you could order loose stones and see how you feel about them in person. I also believe that they can be variable in appearance and unfortunately aren’t graded, so you may have heard horror stories. But the pictures I see online don’t look bad to me. Then again, I’m not as color sensitive as I think some others here might be.

The other option for you would be to find an Amora Gem in the future. Or heck, even now if you know someone abroad. You can’t buy them in the US until I think 2015 at the earliest. But they’re selling them abroad now. It seems like that’s a permanent color treatment that’s all the rave recently. Not sure if you’d want to wait that long, though. Perhaps use an Asha in a pear shape now and upgrade for an anniversary? I personally am sentimentally attached to what I received when I got engaged, so I’ll never upgrade, and I could understand your anguish over doing things this way too.

@booEXcore:  The ladies here who have Asha could give you a lot more info on that than me. In my quick Google search, though, I found links to purchasing an Asha at BTD:

Looks like the Asha are graded in the F-G range. I think they sell the Amora Gem in NZ and perhaps a few other countries at this point. But like I said, unless you know someone there to whom they can ship it to, you’ll have a long wait ahead of you.

I think its GORGEOUS!  I love pears!  Especially in a halo, but I couldn’t find any pics of asha pears in halos.  Good luck!

The Asha pear has a more “ideal” cut I would say, but I have seen some pear moissy in video and it didn’t look that bad to me.  Schubach’s can get you an enhanced one; not amora, but regular enhanced.  I would order it and view it loose first, and then after you can see if you like the cut in real life, you can send it back for setting if you like it.  You need to see it yourself to see if you like it.
