Frank55:  Those two rings are not similar, just both yellow gold.  Also, that is soliciting.

I used to work at a Zales, and we carried the Vera Wang Love line.

-Beautiful Designs! Very intricate, unique, with a lot of attention paid to detail. The hidden sapphire was always a hit with customers!

-Lots of metal/customization options. Every ring is available in yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold, and available in 14k and 18k. This works really well for people who are shopping on a mall chain budget, but want something a little more unique.

– Store insurance policies are AMAZING. The ring comes with an included “Diamond Bond” which covers your center stone for one replacement- no question asked. You just have to make sure you bring the ring in to a store every 6 months for a quick 5 minute inspection and cleaning. The added insurance you can purchase for an extra fee, the “Jewelry Protection Plan,” covers all maintenance for the lifetime of the ring: redipping, resizing, small stone loss, prong retipping and a lot of other stuff is covered. It’s definitely worth the added cost.

– Quite overpriced. You are definitely paying for the Vera Wang name. The diamonds are only slightly higher quality than your average retail store diamond, and most of the center stones are pretty small.

– As far as stone loss is concerned, it is a problem. But most women on these boards have “horror stories” about extreme and constant stone loss which I personally never saw. I did see small stone loss quite often, but that had more to do with the styles of the rings- most of the Vera rings have a lot of small pave set stones, those are just naturally going to come out more often, because they have less support than say, a solitaire.

-Long wait times for maintenance. For most of the jewelry pieces in the store that required maintenance, we were allowed to send the pieces out to our local jeweler, who had a turnaround of about 1 week. Vera rings have to be sent back to Dallas (not China, I have no idea where that idea came from) and it does take a while, anywhere from 2 weeks to up to 6 weeks.

All in all, unless you absolutely fell in love with a very unique design from the Vera Wang collection, it is quite possible to get a better quality ring for a smaller price. I’m not one to suggest you completely steer away from chain jewelry stores, simply because they do provide a decent product at an affordable price. If you do decide to get a Vera Wang ring, you do have the option to custom order your ring, and I highly suggest you take it. Custom sizing will help you avoid 75% of the common problems people have with Vera Wang rings.

Sam’s club.  1k less for same carat weight.   Apples to oranges – not similar in style.
