@Miss Fish: Okay, so I read your post and don’t have any experience with it, but I would say if you both feel your relationship is strong enough, and it’s what he really wants he should totally go for it! It’s great that you are so supportive. I hope everything works out for the best for you both. Good luck to you guys with this decision!

I don’t know about the FBI, but I think you’d find that a lot of the ladies with SO’s in policing in general will have similar experiences.

Darling Husband is a member of our federal police force, and I would say it has a huge impact.  I’d suggest a couple books, namely “I love a cop” and Kevin Gilmartin’s book “emotional survival for law enforcement” to get an idea of what he might go through.

Feel free to PM me anytime if you have any questions/concerns πŸ™‚

My Fi’s sister is in the FBI. I know she had to go to training for a long time (which everyone even accounting etc has to do). If you feel your relationship can handle being apart for a while it is a great opportunity.

My Fiance was a marine for 4 years right out of HS… I wish he would have rethought that and went to school instead since he was valedictorian and class president but whats done is done… He’s just finishing up at a tech school to be a police officer and I’m not too fond of this but I guess if he want’s to do it I’ll adapt. It’s not FBI but it’s still very stressful for me =( I hope it’s easier on you two.

@Miss Fish: FI won’t settle for anything less than a Marine so I have nothing to tell you about the FBI but I wish you luck with everything πŸ™‚

@HappilyEverAfter54: once a marine, always a marine πŸ˜‰

@Miss Fish: well we don’t see each other much now… he is at school from 7:30 to 3:30 and works from 4:30 to 10 Monday through Friday =( I’ll be glad when that’s over but I doubt being a cop it’ll get any better… I guess it’s a mix between a few things, never seeing him, the dangerous nature of the job, my personal dislike for cops and having to give up some very dear friends. Like I said I guess I’ll adapt. lol

@cyndistar3: lol. His contract is over in November, he’s counting down the days so they can’t call him back… I’d lose it if they decided he had to go somewhere at this point.

@HappilyEverAfter54: Being a Marine doesn’t end with the contract lol. Once you have hearned the title it is yours forever , whether it is his job title or not πŸ™‚ But yea, I would flip too! But Fiance wants to be a lifer so…. yea, 20 years of this poop!
