(Closed) Does anyone have a wedding planner?

We do…kinda. She’s more of a Day of Coordinator, but she’s also putting together all of our decorations, and purchasing (on my dime of course) all of the flowers, as well as making the bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, etc. She’s really a jack of all trades! She’s a friend of the family, so we are getting quite the deal! I feel relaxed knowing that she’s on top of the small details!

I used a full time wedding planner that lived on the island we chose to get married on. She recommended the vendors that consistently provide the best services and did all the legwork and coordination for me. She helped me put together my vision while letting me know my limits (there’s not an endless amount of storage space for island vendors, but certainly a destination wedding locale like that has plenty of rental equipment and decor available. Anything I wanted that wasn’t already on island, I had to ship to the planner to hold for me until the wedding day which was a HUGE plus.) I had unlimited communication by text, email, and phone and that was super important because I’m super detailed. She was also my day-of coordinator which was vital for me to keep my sanity. I can’t recommend a full time planner enough. My wedding went off flawlessly (no, really, it did) and I owe it to detailed planning and communication with a professional and experienced planner. It’s worth every penny, especially for a destination wedding, trust me.

BeeG35:  +1.  Mine is worth her weight in gold.  I have very specific requirements about everything, and she has executed my vision and/or found vendors that can with no problem.  I have had a VERY stress free planning process so far.  My wedding will be on a secluded beach with no amenities – not even running water and electricity, and there is just no way I could pull off a wedding for 100 people in that location – 1200 miles from where I live.

I think it’s a must when you’re having a Destination Wedding…We are in the UK but getting married in Italy so we have one (well, actually 2…its a husband and wife team).So far they’ve been worth their weight in gold!

Bibizab:  I’m also getting married in a different country than what I live in, but I don’t have a wedding planner.  If I could afford it, I would totally go for it…. but it’s just not in the budget. =|

 

Basically, if you don’t want to hire a wedding planner and are getting married in a different country, you have to kindof ease up on your expectations and be comfortable with a few things not going as planned.

I have a wedding day coordinator. The venue i have has a list of vendors that come with my package. I set appointments with each one to figure out what i want. I also get an hr and a half for mock up and this is done in house because the venue has everything for the tables and decor. So i guess i am my own personal wedding planner. I have 9 months to go and have nothing done. I kind of wish i had someone hounding me taking care of all the details but i save money this way.

I had a wedding planner (I didn’t have a destination wedding). Best wedding decision. Ever. including saying yes. 😛

One of my best friends is! I am being a bridesmaid for her wedding in September and have just met her wedding planner! She is amazing. I think its a great decision if you can afford it.

We do!! I am a very organized person and I am an avid planner so I am pretty much nailed all the big details and we hired ours after most vendors were booked but they have been SOOO helpful in creating timelines, going with me to appointments, making sure all the necessary questions get answered and everything is in order. What I’m most glad about is that on the day of I can sit back and relax and enjoy the day knowing it will be covered by our planner!
