@Miss Sydney: Thanks! It’s a Monique Lhuillier sash. I’m actually selling my Austin as I have decided to go with a different style. But this dress is truly amazing!

I paid $2700 for my Austin here in Vancouver.

Hi!  I’ve got the Watters Austin!  I absolutely love it – soo romantic!  Mine is the ivory color.  It’s going to be tough to part with it but we could use the money so I will be selling my dress after our June 25th wedding.  It’s being altered from a size 8 to about a 4 (34 inch bust).  I’m in Regina, Saskatchewan and I would be selling it for $1500 CDN plus whatever shipping would cost…

I just got married but we are celebrating our marriage at the end of February. I ordered the Watters Austin dress from a wonderful dress shop called Lovely in NYC. First dress shop I went to and first dress I tried on. I fell in love with this dress instantly. This dress hides all of my flaws. I’m not a tiny girl so I didn’t think this dress would look good, but it looked great!

Lovely has a blog and I follow them on Facebook. Today they posted a real wedding featuring the Watters Austin dress. Very cute wedding and of course very beautiful bride in the Watters Austin dress.

austin lovers:

here’s a video of a watters trunk show/fashion show (i don’t know much about the video, just found it while looking at wedding everything). notice that the austin closes the show –

it moves so, so beautifully!! i love the sash they’ve added, but i think i’m still going to keep the original.

I bought my Austin last week, i’m sooo excited and so in love with the dress!!

Quick question to anyone that has bought this dress or anyother Watters gown. I was surprised when they measured me and then ordered me a 4. ( don’t think i’ve ever worn a 4 in my life!!). i was thinking i would be a 6, but they measured me and told me a 4. i’m just a little worried! do watters gowns run larger? Also could be because its not fitted around the hips? I’m planning on losing some weight anyways but its been niggling me,,

hey brklynmmbb,

i am small, but not super small, and they ordered a 2. the owner of the shop where i ordered my austin took my measurements and then showed me their sizing chart. i think two things make the sizes smaller:

– only the top is fitted. for me, at least, my hips and thighs are what usually make me go up in size. i am not large up top, so smaller sizes work for dresses that are full on the bottom, like you noticed.

– i think the sizing is, much like at banana republic and increasingly at some other stores, vanity sizing. especially for the bride who’s been warned that her dress will likely be a size or two above her “street” size, to be the same size or go down a size seems wonderful. in fact, it makes us worry!

ultimately, unless your body changes significantly in one way or another before you receive the dress, i wouldn’t worry about it. and if they measured you wrong, it’s on them! if the shop is near you, though, and you really are worried, call and ask if you can come in to be remeasured just for your peace of mind, or ask them to tell you your measurements and have a friend measure you (you can’t get accurate measurements of yourself).

i hope that helps allay some fears!

@smdunn01:

Thank you!! thats what i was thinking as well, but its true you hear how wedding dress sizing normally runs very small so when she said 4 i was a bit skeptical, but i’m going to trust the measurements and if not spanx it up!
