I’m getting married in Mexico this April and my mom plans on making corsages and other little touches for the wedding herself (she’s very skilled!!) once we get down there. The only problem is I’m not sure how airport security will react if they see her glue gun in her checked baggage? It sort of looks like a gun, but with a cord lol.
Does anyone have experience with this? I tried calling the airline, but I was on hold forever and I don’t have the time to be sitting on the phone all morning. I will most likely end up reaching someone in the end if we have to. Does anyone know if it matters if it’s in checked baggage? She won’t be bringing it on the plane. I’m just worried because she’ll have favours and bridesmaids gifts in her suitcase as well and I don’t want it all to get confiscated.
Any info would be appreciated!!

It will be fine in her checked bag.

Well, I can’t say for sure, but if you’re allowed to bring a razor in your checked bags, I can’t imagine there would be a problem with the hot glue gun!
Actually, it looks like you can bring pretty everythinh from box cutters to throwing stars as long as it’s checked.

I think it shouldn’t be a problem. Glus guns are mad cheap, so even if something happens, no big deal.

The flight rules are so silly. What is she going to do with it? Glue the plane to the tarmac?
Anyway, just check it. I tend to find that items TSA doesn’t come across often – and don’t know the rules on themselves- get taken. Don’t risk it.

I wouldnt bother I mean security and checks at the airport are bad enough! Have you tried her airline website!?!?

it will not matter if it’s in checked baggage. they might open her suitcase if it’s looks like a suspicious shape on the xray, so i would pack it right on top!

I’m getting married in Mexico and I have no idea if we’ll have the time or resources to find a glue gun in time. My mom is making all the corsages with them and she’s also attaching ribbon and a stem sleeve to my bouquet and the girls. She also has a few odds and ends as far as decorations go and she wants to assemble everything there so that things look fresh and new. She needs her glue gun lol.

@MissBoPeep: Thanks for that website! Just checked and you’re allowed replicas of guns checked in your baggage as well as power tools so I think we’re good!

Kitsy is correct- she can bring it in her checked luggage. They may open it but they will not confiscate the glue gun.

If she can’t, they are like 2$ at walmart/target/michaels.
Nevermind, reading comprehension fail LOL. You can bring just about everything in checked 😀
