You’re welcome! I love their original hardwood floors after they refinished them to match the mocha oak. The knots and grains in the wood are gorgeous!

@Lees4308: You’re welcome. You could always get a dark, chocolately brown stain like they have. In one of their posts about refinishing the floors (it’s under the “you might like these” posts at the bottom of the post I linked), they mention how the wood patterns in their refinished floors are much more noticeable. If you don’t already have wood floors, you could buy unfinished floors and then stain them. My grandfather did this in his house, and it was gorgeous! I don’t know how expensive that would be though, but I assume unfinished wood would be cheaper than finished (depending on the wood type itself).

@Lees4308:

John and Sherry will often answer questions in their posts. They are really good about answering readers questions.  I love that site too.

I agree with @kayakgirl73: I think they are really good about answering questions if you email them! May take a little while to get back to you but they seem like they really take an interest in answering their readers questions.

So sorry we somehow missed your comment on our blog! We do our best to answer every one of them, but perhaps in the moving craziness it got past us. Forgive us!

But it sounds like you got your answer. Our old house had “mocha oak” prefinished hardwood floors from Lumber Liquidators in the kitchen, den, laundry, and half bath. Then we later had the original hardwoods refinished and stained to match that color as closely as possible. I think it was a combination of two stain colors: “mahogany” & “honey oak.” I’m pretty sure they were mixed 50/50 in a can and applied that way. Hope it helps!

xo,

Sherry
